Coming off a dominant one-hit complete game, the Milwaukee Brewers' new ace receives extra rest as the team reshuffles its rotation ahead of a high-stakes series against the Cleveland Guardians.
When announcing their probable starting pitchers for the Cleveland Guardians series, the Milwaukee Brewers made a notable move.
Coming off a stellar one-hit complete game, Jacob Misiorowski's next start has been delayed. Thankfully, though, there's nothing wrong.
Brewers general manager and president of baseball operations Matt Arnold said there's nothing to be concerned about, and the team was simply switching his scheduled start with Shane Drohan.
Knowing the Brewers have a pair of off-days coming off a brutal 13-game stretch, there's nothing wrong with giving Miz an extra day of rest, especially fresh off the first complete game of his young career.
Brewers Probables vs. Guardians
Not only do the Brewers get to enjoy a six-game stretch at home, but they have an additional off day on Monday, June 15.
All six probable pitchers have been revealed for the Brewers vs. Guardians series, a three-game slate taking place from June 16-18.
Tuesday, June 16
Slade Cecconi (3-5, 4.83 ERA) vs. Robert Gasser (0-3, 6.38 ERA)
Gasser's ERA is still sky high, but the team isn't giving up on him anytime soon. Ultimately, it's not like they have a choice with top pitchers Brandon Woodruff, Logan Henderson, and Quinn Priester on the IL.
The series opener sees Cecconi bring his 61 strikeouts to American Family Field, which is by far the lowest of the three starters Milwaukee will see against Cleveland.
Wednesday, June 17
Gavin Williams (9-3, 3.32 ERA) vs. Brandon Sproat (1-4, 5.70 ERA)
Sproat proved himself big time in the team's brutal series in Las Vegas. The 25-year-old needed just 68 pitches to complete six innings, something he's only done one other time this season. Other than his stellar 6.2-inning start on April 16, Sproat hasn't looked nearly as good as he did against the Athletics.
Williams heads to Milwaukee one strikeout shy of 100 with a stellar ERA. Searching for his 10th win of the year, the Brewers will certainly have their work cut out for them in game two.
Thursday, June 18
Parker Messick (6-3, 2.68 ERA) vs. Shane Drohan (3-2, 3.59 ERA)
In what should've been Misiorowski's next start, Drohan will be taking his place. The Brewers seem content with holding Miz out for the series opener in Atlanta, a decision that will be discussed in due time.
Regardless, Drohan has pulled his weight and has exceeded all expectations. Messick is no joke, and brings a stellar ERA to the series finale that will no doubt be a big test for manager Pat Murphy's squad.
