Fueled by Jackson Chourio’s explosive athleticism and a dominant young rotation, the Milwaukee Brewers’ resilient roster possesses pitching depth and offensive fire.
The Milwaukee Brewers pitching staff has been central to the team’s success, but they would not be in their current position without meaningful contributions from their offense.
Jackson Chourio has been at the heart of that production.
The 22-year-old continues developing into one of MLB’s most exciting young players. He brings a combination of power, speed and consistency that has made him an increasingly valuable presence in Milwaukee’s lineup.
Expectations were already enormous after his impressive rookie season, but Chourio has continued progressing in 2026. He is hitting .275 with 17 home runs, 50 RBIs, 22 doubles, and 11 stolen bases in 92 games. Chourio gives Milwaukee another dynamic option near the top of the order.
That development becomes particularly important when considering what comes next for the Brewers.
Milwaukee has already demonstrated that it belongs in the postseason conversation. The greater challenge will be proving it can defeat the National League’s strongest teams when October increases the pressure.
Elite pitching
Pitching could provide its greatest advantage.
Young arms such as Jacob Misiorowski and Logan Henderson have helped create a rotation capable of competing against dangerous lineups. Misiorowski gives Milwaukee a potential Cy Young winner at the front of that group.
There are legitimate concerns.
Injuries have affected the infield, including Brice Turang, while several important pitchers have also spent time sidelined. Milwaukee’s offense can become inconsistent when its ability to generate pressure through contact and speed disappears.
What the Brewers have consistently maintained is confidence.
They have repeatedly found ways to prevail in close games and have demonstrated an ability to compete against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The same team that eliminated Milwaukee in last year’s NLCS.
That experience could prove valuable if the teams meet again in the postseason.
Milwaukee is not perfect. It does not possess the biggest payroll, deepest lineup or the collection of established stars found on teams such as Los Angeles.
But overlooking the Brewers would be dangerous.
Their identity revolves around young talent, aggressive pitching and an ability to find different paths to victory. Chourio provides an explosive young star, while Turang has developed into one of the National League’s most complete players.
Chourio as the X-factor
Chourio’s qualities are particularly important to that formula.
His athleticism allows him to influence games in multiple ways rather than depending exclusively on his bat. His speed creates pressure on defenses, while his power gives pitchers another concern whenever he steps into the box.
He also brings versatility to an offense that needs different ways to manufacture opportunities. Chourio can help ignite an inning, create problems on the bases or change a game with one swing.
Most importantly, Milwaukee has demonstrated that its success in the regular season is legitimate.
At 78-48, the Brewers are positioned to enter October with home-field advantage and genuine World Series aspirations.
The Dodgers may remain the expected National League favorite, but Milwaukee is becoming a team nobody wants to face.
