After silencing critics with a 15-strikeout masterpiece, the Milwaukee Brewers' flamethrower turned past disrespect into a dominant shutout, proving his Cy Young caliber against the vocal Philadelphia Phillies skeptics.

After being named an All-Star last season, the Philadelphia Phillies weren't too thrilled with Jacob Misiorowski's placement.

The Milwaukee Brewers' flamethrower had already taken the league by storm, but he was a replacement after numerous top pitchers declined to participate in the All-Star game.

Thus, the MLB had to adjust, therefore they asked Misiorowski to compete. Who is the Miz to turn down an invite, even though he only made single-digit starts prior to that point?

The Phillies didn't hold back on their thoughts, but all of that was put to rest on June 12 when Misiorowski delivered one of the best starts in baseball history.

Misiorowski Left No Doubts

Back on July 13, 2025, ESPN published an article titled, "Phillies rip MLB for adding Jacob Misiorowski to All-Star roster."

The article started with a quote from Trea Turner who said, "What a joke. That's f---ing terrible. I mean that's terrible, dude."

Nick Castellanos chimed in, "It's turning into the Savannah Bananas."

Turner added, "I mean, it's not the All-Star game in the sense that the best players go there, or people who have had the best season. It's whoever sells the most tickets or has been put on social media the most. That's essentially what it's turned into."

At the end of the day, it's not that serious. Plenty of players have been snubbed from All-Star game appearances, and J.T. Realmuto was trying to argue Ranger Suarez or Cristopher Sanchez were more deserving than Miz a year ago.

Stellar Shutout

Other than a weakly hit single to center field, Misiorowski was on a heater on Friday night. The Phillies had no answers for his fastball, one that helped strikeout 15 batters in a shutout that required fewer than 100 pitches.

Those 15 strikeouts alone required a minimum of 45 pitches, so it's crazy to think he ended the night with only 95 pitches thrown. Speaking of the minimum, that's what Miz faced as Kyle Schwarber's fourth inning single later turned into a double play.

Here in 2026, Misiorowski is an All-Star, no doubt about it. He's a Cy Young candidate, and there's absolutely nothing the Phillies can do or say about it.

They had their chance to prove everyone they were right with the comments they made a year ago, but those words came back to haunt them as Miz came forward with one of the best pitching performances the game has ever seen.
