Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Jacob Misiorowski has enjoyed some big accomplishments early in his career, and he just added another one to the list.

The Milwaukee Brewers announced on Friday that right-hander Jacob Misiorowski will be the team’s Opening Day starter against the Chicago White Sox on March 26.

Later in the day, Misiorowski reacted to the news.

“I'm excited,” Misiorowski told the media.  “I can't wait. It's going to be fun.”

He also made it clear that among the potential pitchers who could have received the nod, he was not expecting his name to be chosen.

“No, I mean, obviously there was talk, but no, I had no idea,” he added. “I was excited that the opportunity has come my way, so it's going to be fun.”

Misiorowski said he discovered the news from manager Pat Murphy and veteran outfielder Christian Yelich.

“They called me over in the clubhouse and just, you know, starting to give me a little crap and mess with me a little bit, and then Murph let me know,” Misiorowski said. "So, yeah, it was good.”

Misiorowski had a breakout rookie season in 2025 that saw him earn an All-Star selection after just five MLB starts, breaking the record previously held by Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes for the fastest to accomplish the feat. Now, he is adding another accomplishment to his young career, and the 23-year-old is embracing all the emotions that come with it.

“I don't think there's such a thing as too amped up,” Misiorowski said. “I think it's; you know, I want all the juices I possibly can get, so I'm excited for it.”

The philosophy of leaning into his adrenaline is something that Misiorowski has benefited from since last season, especially in his first postseason appearances.

“I mean, I've always had that,” he said. “I've always needed the more juice the better, but, you know, that definitely helped going to the playoffs and feeling that and just wanting more and more.”

Last season, Misiorowski appeared in 15 games, 14 of which were starts, and logged a 5-3 record with a 4.36 ERA and 1.24 WHIP over 66 innings of work. On Friday, he started for the Brewers in their 8-7 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Over 4 1/3 innings, Misiorowski logged three strikeouts while allowing four hits, four earned runs and two walks. Afterward, he evaluated his performance and talked about his goals.

“Yeah, I mean, just to command the zone with everything,” he said. “Feel comfortable with it, you know, feel comfortable with the lower half, you know, just get ready for the game coming up.”

Misiorowski is just one pitcher in a younger rotation, and it is one that he believes in.

“A lot,” Misiorowski said when asked what the rotation is capable of. “I think it's going to be fun to watch. “I mean, all of our guys are just fun.

“I mean, there's no one in there that, you know, I've been around with for years, so it's exciting to see, you know, the new guys coming in that we got this offseason are looking really good, so it's going to be fun.”
