The 2026 Major League Baseball season is underway, and the Milwaukee Brewers will kick it off by hosting the Chicago White Sox at 2:10 p.m. on Thursday.
The Brewers have multiple notable players who will not be able to take the field during opening day. The most recent addition to the Injured List is outfielder Jackson Chourio, who suffered a fractured left hand. Those on the IL for both teams can be found below:
OF Jackson Chourio -- According to MLB.com, Chourio was placed on the 10-day IL, retroactive to Wednesday, with a fracture in his left hand. In his place, Blake Perkins has been recalled from Triple-A Nashville.
Chourio’s injury is a blow for the Brewers. His first two MLB seasons have seen him notch 20-plus home runs and 20-plus stolen bases in each of them.
In addition to his skills at the plate, Chourio has proven to be a sound defender in the outfield. During his time in left field and right field last season, he recorded a perfect fielding percentage. At 22 years old, he continues to be an up-and-coming star for Milwaukee.
Meanwhile, Perkins is entering his fourth season with the Brewers. In 2025, Perkins appeared in 54 games and hit .226.
RHP Quinn Priester -- After identifying the root of his ongoing wrist issues as a type of neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome, right-hander Quinn Priester will begin his season on the IL, though he and the team are hopeful he will not be sidelined for too long.
According to MLB.com, Priester last Friday “expressed optimism” about rejoining the MLB roster within two months. In 2025, Priester had a breakout year in which he went 13-3 over 29 games (24 starts) with a 3.32 ERA. He is entering his fourth season as an MLB pitcher and his second with Milwaukee.
LF Akil Baddoo -- Baddoo signed with Milwaukee in December on a one-year deal after spending the first five years of his career with the Detroit Tigers. However, Brewers fans will not see Baddoo for quite some time.
On Tuesday, Baddoo was placed on the 60-day IL on Tuesday because of a quadriceps injury. He has appeared in 347 career games and has hit .224 with 28 home runs.
