After signing a massive pre-debut contract, elite prospect Cooper Pratt heads to Milwaukee to bolster the Brewers' lineup with speed and defense against the surging Cleveland Guardians.
In a move that has been months in the making, multiple sources have confirmed that Cooper Pratt is on his way to the big leagues.
The Milwaukee Brewers have seemingly put an end to the Luis Rengifo experiment, though the corresponding move has yet to be named.
Adam McCalvy of MLB.com drew attention to the Pratt call-up rumors on Sunday, June 14, confirming he's heard that Pratt is indeed big-league bound.
Seeing as the Brewers are enjoying Monday, June 15, off, this is the perfect day for Pratt to get accumulated in Milwaukee before his potential big-league debut on Tuesday, June 16.
Cooper Pratt's Time is Now
The Brewers didn't hesitate to sign Pratt to a massive eight-year, $50.75 million deal before he played a single day in the majors. The team just constructed a similar contract with fellow top prospect Luis Lara, someone who could be hearing his name called sooner rather than later.
Regardless, Pratt's big league debut is finally here. As part of the Nashville Sounds game yesterday, Pratt was seen in the dugout hugging his teammates and getting high fives all around. It's crazy to think he found out in real time during a game, but he was immediately pulled and that all but confirmed his call-up.
Bob Nightengale of USA Today said he's expected to be part of the Brewers' lineup for their series opener on the 16th when the Cleveland Guardians come to town for a three-game series.
Cooper Pratt: By the Numbers
Pratt struggled big time early in 2026, but his batting average has been on the rise and he's an elite defender who brings a lot to the table. It's not like Milwaukee is known around the league for having a ton of power bats, so he certainly fits the mold of what manager Pat Murphy is looking for.
The 21-year-old has a career .256 batting average in the minors, which goes back to 2023. He's slashing .241/.349/.386 this season with an OPS of .735, which is par for the course of where he's been in the minors.
Pratt has swiped 17 bases this season and he's coming off a stellar 2025 where he stole 31 bases in Double-A. He has 79 career stolen bases and has only been caught nine times, five of which came a year ago.
In 220 Triple-A at-bats this season, Pratt has 53 hits and 85 total bases. He's hit six homers, two shy of his totals from both 2024 and 2025, where he had 347 and 437 at-bats, respectively.
