Trevor Megill cements his Milwaukee Brewers legacy as the fifth pitcher in franchise history to record multiple 30-save seasons.
It's crazy to think that Trevor Megill is tied for 10th in the league despite picking up his 30th save of the season.
A pair of pitchers both have 40 on the year, and that goes to show just how competitive some of these battles truly are.
That said, there have only been four other Milwaukee Brewers pitchers who have had multiple 30-plus saves during their time with the team.
Megill officially becomes the fifth in Brewers history to do so, and, to no surprise, he's the first since Josh Hader recorded 30-plus saves in 2019 and 2021.
All signs were pointing towards Hader doing the same in 2020, but that modified 60-game season put everything on hold.
Now, Megill is officially in the history books alongside Hader with the likes of legendary closers Dan Plesac, John Axford, Francisco Rodriguez.
Megill has been nearly unstoppable
Earlier in the year, it seemed like the Brewers had a major problems on their hands. Megill couldn't throw a scoreless outing to save his life, and suddenly, their saves leader from 2025 was looking like a shell of himself.
Thankfully, manager Pat Murphy removed him from his role in the ninth inning and it did wonders. Megill was replaced by Abner Uribe for a bit, along with a few others who have been put in some interesting save situations this season, but at the end of the day it's a true team effort and that's why the Brewers are one win shy of 100.
To think Megill is responsible for saving 30 of their 99 wins is incredible. The 32-year-old sports a strong 2.67 ERA this season, and he at one point had gotten the save in 20 straight save appearances.
Despite blowing a save back on Friday, Sept. 18, he still left that game with a win thanks to the Brewers offense coming alive late.
Megill has now thrown two straight scoreless outings, and he's only needed 20 pitches to do so.
His nine-pitch save on Sunday, Sept. 20, marked his second save of the month where he got the job done in fewer than 10 pitches.
Overall, it's incredible to see his name in the same conversation as these other four relievers.
Plesac had 30-plus save seasons in 1988-89, and then there was a long gap before Axford did his thing in 2011-12.
Rodriguez would replicate Axford's results in 2014-15, and then it took roughly five years before Hader took this team by storm.
