Any Milwaukee Brewers fans who may have been feeling down about returning to work on a Monday can rejoice in what their team accomplished. 

After securing an 8-3 win over the New York Mets to open the series at American Family Field on Monday, the Brewers now have the best record in baseball at 63-37. Additionally, they spoiled Freddy Peralta’s return, and they have now won four straight games to open the second half of the season.

Among all the good news, it was a rather conservative night for right-hander Jacob Misiorowski. In his first start back after dealing with arm fatigue, Misiorowski pitched four innings and struck out six batters while allowing four hits and a walk. He was also charged with a run.

Given what Misiorowski has accomplished this season, Monday’s outing felt out of character for him. Misiorowski had his moments, though, including a strikeout of Juan Soto that featured a 103-mph and two 104-mph fastballs.

For Misiorowski, the outing was affected by extended time off, but he was pleased with it otherwise.

"Yeah, it felt good." Misiorowski told Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. "Felt ready to go, you know, did what the team asked for me to do. So, yeah, it felt good. I mean, I felt like I, you know, wasn't in my legs as well as I should have been, but no, I felt halfway decent, good enough."

The outing was slightly truncated for Misiorowski in order to gradually ramp up to his normal workload, which he will return to sooner rather than later.

"Probably next week," Misiorwoski said. "I mean, that would be my guess, would be, you know, that quick of a turnaround and, you know, four innings, and next one, hopefully more."

During the offseason, Misiorowski prepared for an increase in workload and production.

"Yeah, I mean, offseason last year, we focused on legs and doing all that stuff to get myself ready for, you know, this track of the year," Misiorowski said. "So, no, I feel good where I'm at and ready to go."

After Misiorowski’s evening ended, one of the relievers that took the mound for Milwaukee was recently acquired right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. McCullers had not pitched since May due to a stint on the Injured List resulting from inflammation in his right shoulder, but he impressed Misiorowski in his debut with the Brewers.

"Yeah, it was really good," Misiorowski said. "You know, stuff's impressive. "You know, that was the first time I really got to watch the guys. So, you know, really good to have another guy in the bullpen like that. So, it's awesome."

After the Brewers were swept by the Pittsburgh Pirates ahead of the All-Star break, a reset was needed, and now Misiorowski believes they are reaching their capabilities again.

"Yeah, no, this feels like us," he said. "So, you know, it's good to be back to where we feel like we should be. And, you know, it's awesome to see the guys hitting and doing their thing. So, it's fun to watch."
