With a record-breaking streak of dominance, league-leading strikeout tally, Milwaukee Brewers' Jacob Misiorowski is silencing doubters.
Sporting a 4-2 record with a 1.89 ERA, Milwaukee Brewers 2025 All-Star pitcher Jacob Misiorowski is making his case to win the Cy Young Award this season. "The Miz" faced tons of backlash for being named a National League All-Star last season, but he's proved all the doubters wrong here in 2026 as he leads the league in strikeouts.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy pulled Misiorowski after just 74 pitches on Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs, a decision that likely stemmed from him cramping late in his previous two outings. Either way, he threw six scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and striking out eight while only walking one.
In the month of May, Misiorowski has thrown 24 1/3 innings and has allowed just nine hits. The most impressive part of it all? He hasn't allowed a single run.
MLB's Strikeout Leader
At just 24 years old, the Brewers have a budding superstar on their hands. The Missouri native climbed through the ranks in the minors and had a ton of attention on him at all times, and he's done nothing but deliver in his big-league outings.
Prior to any games being played on Wednesday, May 20, "The Miz" leads the NL with his 88 strikeouts. Thirty-seven of those have come in May, a month that has seen him strike out at least eight batters in all four of his starts.
Other than his April 14 start against the Toronto Blue Jays, Misiorowski has struck out at least seven batters in every start this season.
ERA, WHIP Are Top Three in the NL
After his start in game two of the Brewers' series against the Cubs, "The Miz" cemented himself as a top three pitcher in the National League, if he wasn't already.
Not only is his 0.88 WHIP tied for third in the league, but he's tied for second in the NL, only behind Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes (0.71). For reference, he's tied with fellow NL Central pitcher, St. Louis Cardinals' Michael McGreevy.
Elsewhere, he sports a 1.89 ERA, which is good for sixth in all of baseball. Looking at the NL specifically, he only trails the Philadelphia Phillies' Cristopher Sanchez (1.82) and the Cincinnati Reds' Chase Burns (1.83).
History Maker
According to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Curt Hogg, "Jacob Misiorowski is the first pitcher in Major League Baseball history to have 5 straight starts of 8+ strikeouts and no extra-base hits allowed."
Whether or not this is sustainable remains to be seen, but what "The Miz" is doing is absolutely remarkable and Brewers fans aren't too far-fetched to say he's a legitimate Cy Young contender.
