The Milwaukee Brewers won their third game in a row, and rookie pitcher Coleman Crow had a strong debut.

The Milwaukee Brewers notched their third win in a row by beating the Miami Marlins on Friday 7-5 in a game in which 25-year-old right-hander Coleman Crow made his MLB debut.

Crow got the starting nod for the Brewers and made the most of it by pitching 5 ⅓ innings and notching four strikeouts while allowing four hits, two earned runs, and a walk. After the game, manager Pat Murphy praised him.

“I thought Coleman went out and just was tremendous in his first outing,” Murphy said. “He didn't, he didn't miss too many spots and he can pitch here. I mean, he can, he can pitch in the big leagues and, you know, you come to this environment against that lineup as good as they're playing, you know, it's pretty good.

“So excited for him and his family and, you know, to have enough poise to come and pitch, and pitch so well,” Murphy added. “You know, poise and he's not afraid to throw to the edges. He's not afraid. Counts don't really matter to him. He just makes pitches, you know.”

Crow was recalled on Friday to make the start and was later optioned back to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.

Crow began his professional baseball journey when he was selected by the Los Angeles Angels with the 841st pick in the 28th round of the 2019 MLB Draft out of Pike County High School in Zebulon, Ga. By the 2022 season, Crow was on full time with the Angels’ Double-A affiliate, the Rocket City Trash Pandas.

During his 2022 Double-A campaign, Crow led the Southern League in wins (nine), innings pitched (128), WHIP (1.31) and winning percentage (.750). Additionally, he finished second in strikeouts with 128, and his 128 innings ranked second behind all of the minor-league pitchers within the organization.

In 2023, Crow notched a 2-0 record and a 1.88 ERA in four starts with Double-A Rocket City before being traded to the New York Mets on June 24 of that year.

His season was then cut short by Tommy John Surgery that was performed on July 11, and he was subsequently traded to the Brewers on Dec. 20 for right-hander Adrian Houser and center fielder Tyrone Taylor.

After missing the entire 2024 season while recovering from the procedure, Crow bounced back in 2025 and went 4-1 with a 3.24 ERA through 12 starts with Double-A Biloxi and Triple-A Nashville. Last June, he was named the Brewers Minor League Pitcher of the Month after logging a 3-10 record and a 1.06 ERA in 17 innings of work.

Through three games (two starts) this season with Triple-A Nashville, Crow has a 2-0 record and a 4.02 ERA.
