Luis Peña’s rapid rise through the Milwaukee Brewers’ farm system continued with an impressive start at Double-A Biloxi.

Luis Peña’s path through the Milwaukee Brewers’ minor-league system has not been completely straightforward, but the highly regarded prospect has continued to make progress.

Now at Double-A Biloxi, Peña is getting another opportunity to show why he has quickly become one of the organization’s most promising young players.

The 19-year-old infielder recently moved up from High-A Wisconsin after spending parts of two seasons at the level. He hit .298 in 2026 before earning his promotion, showing improved consistency as he moved closer to the upper levels of the Brewers’ system.

Peña also finished his time with Wisconsin on a strong note. During his final 18 games there, he hit .301 while continuing to demonstrate the combination of contact ability and athleticism that has made him such an intriguing prospect.

His development has been slowed at times by health issues. Peña was hospitalized earlier this season after dealing with dehydration and later became ill again. A hamstring injury also forced him to miss additional time.

Despite those setbacks, Peña has remained productive whenever he has been available.

His speed is one of the biggest strengths of his game. Peña has stolen 29 bases across three levels this season, giving Milwaukee an exciting offensive weapon who can impact games on the bases as well as at the plate.

The Dominican Republic native is also gaining valuable experience by playing alongside fellow Brewers prospect Jesús Made in Biloxi. Made is considered the top prospect in Milwaukee’s system, giving the Shuckers an impressive young middle-infield combination.

Peña has primarily played shortstop during his development but has also moved to third base since arriving in Double-A. His ability to gain experience at multiple infield positions could become increasingly valuable as he continues progressing through the organization.

His promotion also adds another highly touted prospect to an already talented Biloxi roster. The Shuckers feature several players who rank among Milwaukee’s best young talents, creating an environment where Peña can continue developing alongside other future Major League contributors.

Milwaukee has built one of the deeper farm systems in baseball, and Peña is an important part of that group. His combination of youth, speed and offensive potential gives the Brewers another intriguing player to monitor as he adjusts to more advanced competition.

There is still plenty of development ahead for Peña, particularly as he becomes accustomed to Double-A pitching. However, his quick progress through the lower levels and ability to overcome multiple setbacks have made him one of the more interesting prospects in the Brewers’ organization.

At just 19 years old, Peña has plenty of time to continue refining his game. If he can stay healthy and maintain his momentum, his arrival in Biloxi could be another significant step toward eventually reaching Milwaukee.
