The veteran catcher snapped a two-week power drought by crushing his 200th career home run, providing a crucial late-season boost for the Milwaukee Brewers.
Gary Sanchez has bounced around quite a bit since his time with the New York Yankees from 2015 to 2021.
In fact, he hasn't stayed on the same team for more than one season since 2022, and even though this isn't his first stint with the Milwaukee Brewers, it's worth noting that he played elsewhere in 2025.
Sanchez, who was a 0.2 WAR player in 89 games with the Brewers in 2024, left in 2025 but would return prior to the 2026 season.
Similar to that 2024 season, Sanchez is once again an 11-home-run hitter, but his next homer will give him his most in an individual season since 2023.
That would be incredible for a backup catcher who is 33 years old, but the most incredible feat he recorded was just against the Texas Rangers when he crushed his 200th career home run.

It may have been his lone hit in the Rangers series, but Sanchez has been able to earn relatively consistent playing time due to how much power he still has.
His numbers across the board aren't exactly the best, but he could easily give the Brewers a home run in any given situation, similar to someone like Daniel Vogelbach, who is now the team's hitting coach.
In 44 at-bats during the month of August, Sanchez is hitting just .182 but has a .720 OPS due to his three doubles and three home runs.
The Dominican Republic native didn't hit a single long ball in July, so manager Pat Murphy knows it's a great sign to see him regain his power with the postseason coming up next month.

"The club reacted in the dugout as good as they've reacted all year, really happy for Gary because they love him," he added.
Sanchez reached 10 years of service time earlier this season, and while the Brewers went out and acquired catcher Bo Naylor, that hasn't served as the end of the road for Sanchez.
To Murphy's point, Sanchez hit No. 199 on Wednesday, Aug. 12, so this was a moment that was roughly two and a half weeks in the making. It took 12 games for Sanchez to hit No. 200, but now that he's done it, that's one less thing to worry about moving forward.
