Milwaukee Brewers are scaling back Quinn Priester’s rehabilitation assignment, sending the right-hander to the Arizona Complex League.
The Milwaukee Brewers are adjusting the rehabilitation plan for right-hander Quinn Priester as he continues his recovery from thoracic outlet syndrome.
After opening the season on the Injured List, Priester has encountered setbacks during multiple minor league rehab appearances.
As a result, Milwaukee has reassigned the 25-year-old to the organization's Arizona complex, where he can continue working in a more controlled environment away from the pressures of upper-level competition.
Rough Results During Rehab
Priester's most recent outing came with Triple-A Nashville, where he was unable to complete the first inning after allowing three runs while struggling to find the strike zone. The appearance continued a difficult stretch that has defined his rehab assignment.
Across six minor-league starts this season, Priester has posted a 21.60 ERA while dealing with command issues. His struggles have not been limited to Triple-A, either. During an appearance with High-A Wisconsin, he surrendered seven runs while recording only four outs.
The inconsistency has been particularly concerning given that this is already Priester's second rehab attempt. Earlier in the season, the Brewers paused his assignment after control problems surfaced during his initial return to game action.
Brewers Hoping for a Reset
By sending Priester to Arizona, the Brewers are aiming to simplify the process and allow the right-hander to focus on rebuilding his mechanics and confidence.
The move removes the immediate pressure of game results and allows the organization to work more closely with Priester as he continues recovering from the nerve-related condition that surfaced during spring training.
While he has avoided surgery, his return timetable remains uncertain. The Brewers are expected to take a patient approach as they evaluate his progress over the coming weeks.
Remembering Priester's Breakout 2025
The latest setback comes after what appeared to be a breakthrough campaign for Priester in 2025.
Acquired by Milwaukee from the Boston Red Sox during the season, Priester quickly became an important piece of the Brewers' rotation. He logged 157.1 innings with a 3.32 ERA and established himself as a dependable starter.
The addition of a cutter helped transform his repertoire and contributed to his success throughout the year.
Rotation Continues to Hold Up
Despite injuries impacting multiple starters, Milwaukee has managed to stay afloat thanks to contributions from several younger pitchers.
With Brandon Woodruff and Logan Henderson also sidelined, the Brewers have relied on Chad Patrick, Brandon Sproat, and Coleman Crow to fill rotation spots. Patrick has emerged as one of the club's most effective replacements, providing valuable innings while Milwaukee waits for healthier days ahead.
For now, the Brewers' focus remains on getting Priester healthy and helping him regain the form that made him one of the team's most valuable starters just one season ago.
