The Milwaukee Brewers' dominant bullpen nears full strength with Abner Uribe's impending return.
The Milwaukee Brewers have been without star reliever Abner Uribe since August 9, but that hasn't stopped them from winning games.
Milwaukee still has the best record in all of baseball, and even without Uribe, they've managed to go 7-6 since he was placed on the 15-day Injured List.
Uribe's absence has definitely shaken up the bullpen, but manager Pat Murphy and the rest of this coaching staff now know that he's close to returning.
Officially, the team announced he would be pitching for the Brewers High-A affiliate, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
Uribe, who's eligible to come off the IL as soon as Wednesday, Aug. 26, could immediately rejoin the team in New York after his appearance, or the Brewers could wait until they return home from August 28-30.
When can Brewers fans expect Uribe to return?
As long as everything goes well with Uribe's rehab appearance tomorrow, there's no reason to believe this organization is going to hold him back any longer.
Uribe wasn't facing a season-altering injury; rather, just a forearm issue that required some time off.
The results of Uribe's time with the Timber Rattlers will determine whether they send him straight to Citi Field against the New York Mets or keep him in Wisconsin, which is the safe route, and allow him to return for the Texas Rangers series.
Milwaukee has another grueling stretch coming up as they're once again tasked with playing 16 games in 16 days.
This has somehow become normal for the Brewers, a team that was given an incredibly difficult schedule this season. Somehow, they've come out of it better than ever, and that's proven with their 81-50 record.
Brewers closing trio has been unstoppable
Everyone knows the Brewers' late-game trio of Aaron Ashby, Uribe, and Trevor Megill can help get them through the postseason. Megill had his struggles earlier in the year, which allowed Uribe to take over in the ninth-inning role, but he's much better as the setup man rather than the team's closer.
Here in 2026, Uribe has a team-high 18 holds. He has six saves this year, which only puts him behind Megill, but there's quite a big difference between the six he has and Megill's 24.
Regardless, Uribe has been incredible this season. His 2.05 ERA and 1.03 WHIP don't tell the full story, as the 26-year-old hasn't allowed a run since Friday, June 19, marking 21.2 consecutive scoreless innings.
