The Milwaukee Brewers continue to lean on organizational pitching depth on Sunday, promoting left-hander Robert Gasser from Triple-A to make a start against the Minnesota Twins while clearing roster space by designating right-hander Peter Strzelecki for assignment.

Gasser, already occupying a spot on Milwaukee’s 40-man roster, was elevated to provide immediate help to a rotation currently managing injury concerns. The left-hander will make his first appearance of the 2026 campaign after spending time working his way back into form following an extended recovery process.

To accommodate the move on the active roster, the Brewers parted ways with Strzelecki only a day after selecting his contract.

The veteran reliever had recently earned a return to the major-league roster after delivering solid results at Triple-A Nashville, where he logged steady innings and showed an ability to induce weak contact while limiting walks.

Despite the brief call-up, Strzelecki never appeared in a game during his latest stint with Milwaukee, meaning his last official major-league outing remains with the Cleveland Guardians in August 2024.

His professional path has included time with the Brewers, the Arizona Diamondbacks, and Cleveland, as well as minor-league stops across multiple organizations in recent seasons.

Because of previous outright history, Strzelecki would have the ability to reject a minor-league assignment and elect free agency if he clears waivers and Milwaukee attempts to outright him off the roster.

Milwaukee’s pitching depth has increasingly become essential as injuries have impacted the club’s rotation. With starters such as Brandon Woodruff and Quinn Priester sidelined, the Brewers have relied on internal options to bridge innings while remaining competitive.

Gasser represents one of the organization’s more intriguing arms. Selected in the second round of the 2021 draft, the southpaw gained recognition as a promising prospect before reaching the majors in 2024.

Though he flashed encouraging results early in his big league tenure, injuries interrupted his momentum, including recovery from Tommy John surgery that limited much of the last two seasons.
