In a 5-2 win over the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday, the Milwaukee Brewers not only secured the series, but also first place in the National League Central Division.

It took a collective effort by the Brewers to reign victorious over their division rivals for the second time in as many nights, and Brice Turang’s contributions were paramount.

Turang put his offensive firepower on display by notching three hits in four tries with two RBIs and a walk. His highlight moment came in the eighth inning, when he launched a two-run home run to left-center field to give Milwaukee a 5-0 advantage. Afterward, he talked about the effort it took from the offense to get a critical win.

"Yeah, I mean, they got a good team, so you wanna keep scoring runs," Turang told the media. "You don't wanna ever stop, you wanna just keep pushing them across. So just having quality at-bats, trying to win every pitch, winning every inning, it worked out."

In the Brewers’ win, right-hander Jacob Misiorowski received the starting nod, and he delivered another commanding performance with eight strikeouts over six shutout innings of work.

Turang made sure to praise "The Miz" after the game, but he also made it clear that his mindset does not change depending on which of his teammates is pitching.

"I mean, my focus is there just as much as if it was anybody else," Turang said. "It's… I don't know, no matter who's pitching, I try to play 100% every time. I mean, watching him is really fun. It's electric, for sure.

"We got a lot of good pitchers on this team," Turang added. "But, I wouldn't say I change the way I play the game when he pitches versus someone else, cause I just, I'm not that type of player. I wanna play the same, no matter what."

Through 43 games, Turang continues to be a bright spot for his team. In 161 at-bats, he is slashing .292/.413/.497 with a .910 OPS. His .413 on-base percentage is the fourth-best in baseball, and he leads all second basemen in the category as well as OPS.

The Brewers have an opportunity to sweep the Cubs on Wednesday, and while Turang understands the rivalry, he is not placing the importance of Wednesday’s contest over other games.

"I mean, every game's important," he said. "Yeah, no matter who it is, winning every game — and obviously our history with them — but you gotta just take it game by game. It's a new year, it's a long season, so winning every game matters, no matter who it is."
