With their second-round pick in the 2026 MLB Draft, the Milwaukee Brewers selected outfielder Sawyer Strosnider.

Between a doubleheader on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, the MLB Draft and the series finale against Pittsburgh on Sunday, the Milwaukee Brewers had a busy weekend.

The Brewers worked through selections from each of the 20 rounds, and shortstop Trey Ebel, the brother of Brewers prospect Brady Ebel, was taken in the first round. Meanwhile, Milwaukee’s last pick of the day went to first baseman Carsten Sabathia III, the son of former Brewers pitcher, CC Sabathia.

The Brewers went with a lot of pitchers in the draft, with new arms making up 13 of their 20 picks. But with its second selection (second round, 66th pick), Milwaukee chose outfielder Sawyer Strosnider out of Texas Christian University.

Strosnider, 21, spent the 2025 and 2026 seasons with TCU after coming out of Brock High School in his hometown of Brock, Texas. As a freshman, he started in 55 games of 56 played, and he moved among right field (31 starts), designated hitter (23 starts) and center field (one start).

According to his college profile, Strosnider led the Horned Frogs with a .350 batting average as a freshman, and he led the nation with 10 triples, which also set a single-season school record. Strosnider’s 10 triples complemented a quadruple-double campaign, making him only the fourth player in NCAA since 2002 to post such a statistic.

Because of his efforts, Strosnider earned several accolades as a freshman. He was named the Big-12 Freshman of the Year while also receiving First-team All-Big 12 Conference honors and College Baseball Foundation All-America Team honors, among several other achievements.

Last season, some of Strosnider’s numbers fell, but he was still very potent at the plate. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound left-handed hitter posted a .273 average with 50 hits and 13 home runs. Of his 50 starts, Strosnider made appearances in right field (33 games) and center field (17 games).

Strosnider was a three-sport athlete in high school before committing to baseball fully at TCU. According to his MLB.com scouting report, Strosnider is praised for his power, which is graded at 60. He is a pure athlete, and his speed is also graded at 60, while his arm and field categories are ranked at 55, giving him an overall grade of 55.

Concerns for Strosnider reside with his penchant to chase pitches outside the zone. When he makes contact, his power and swing can be exceptional, but he must develop better plate discipline as a young prospect if he ever wants to produce a bat worthy of the majors.
