Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Luis Rengifo put up a well-rounded performance for his team on Thursday.

The Milwaukee Brewers closed their series against the San Diego Padres on Thursday with a dominant 7-1 win, and third baseman Luis Rengifo was a high-level contributor for his team.

On top of making a diving play at third base in the first inning that prevented a run from being scored, Rengifo also went 2-for-4 at the plate with a team-high three RBIs. After the game, he talked with the media about his strong performance.

"It feels good," Rengifo said. "Feels good, you know? Go out there, stay in the process and see every pitch and hit the ball. It feels good."

After his highlight defensive play in the top of the first inning at third base, Rengifo stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the frame with the bases loaded and one run scored for the Brewers after Padres right-hander Griffin Canning walked four batters in a row.

With the advantage on his side, Rengifo hit his first single of the day and drove in two runs.

"It's good because when you have runners on bases, you know what the plan is with the pitcher," Rengifo said about his first at-bat. "He threw a lot of balls early in the game and we took advantage of that."

Over his last three games, Rengifo has gone 7-for-12 at the plate, which is good for a .583 batting average. For him, recent success is a result of staying dialed into the process.

"It's just focus," Rengifo said. "As I said before, it's a process. It's a long season so sometimes you want to feel like really, really well and you have to stay consistent every single time, and it just feels good right now."

At 29 years old and in his eighth Major League Baseball season, Rengifo also understands the importance of patience.

"Yeah, it's more mentally, but you have to work," he said. "You have to work, you have to stay every single time when you come to the field, and it doesn't matter what result you have."

Rengifo also highlighted the importance of what strong, collective at-bats can mean for his team when it comes to winning games.

"It's good because as a team, you see the last two, three games, everybody takes walks and base hits and doubles, and all that and that helps to produce and put the W in the end of the game," Rengifo said.

The Brewers finished their homestand with a 5-1 record against two of baseball’s more formidable opponents in the Padres and the New York Yankees, and Rengifo believes it speaks to the talent of the club.

"We got a good team, we got a good team so we fight every single time," he said. "We know what we have and what game we want to play, and just stay in that."
