Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Blake Perkins is feeling the momentum after he and his team dismantled the New York Yankees.

From May 8-10, the Milwaukee Brewers hosted the New York Yankees, who came to American Family Field as one of baseball’s hottest teams.

For the Brewers, who have remained a winning baseball team through the adversity of injuries to key players, there was a chance to make a statement.

They did.

By defeating New York on Sunday, 4-3, Milwaukee completed the sweep, and outfielder Blake Perkins was a key contributor to the win. He notched a two-run single in the bottom of the fourth inning off Carlos Rodon to give his team the lead after the Yankees held a 2-0 advantage early.

Before Perkins stepped up to the plate in the fourth inning, Rodon had not yet given up a hit, and Perkins knew what he needed to do.

"Just try and be aggressive still," Perkins told the media after the game. "Like, obviously, we had him a little bit on the ropes a couple innings before that and weren't able to really capitalize a whole lot. So just not trying to do too much, honestly, just trying to get a ball.

"I was looking middle of the plate, hoping he made a mistake, and I was able to get that mistake and hit up the middle," Perkins added. "And I was talking to Jazz [Chisholm Jr.] right after, and he said that they literally had moved him two steps over right before that pitch. So it was just, that's luck right there, bless God, no other way to say it."

On Saturday and Sunday, the Brewers were able to defeat the Yankees, 4-3, with both victories coming in walk-off fashion. On Saturday, catcher William Contreras hit a sacrifice-fly RBI to win the game in the 10th inning, and second baseman Brice Turang hit a walk-off home run on Sunday to lift Milwaukee to victory.

"I mean, two walk-offs is big," Perkins said. "Seeing Brice hit a walk-off home run is always really fun. I know that it's still early, so we try and take these games one day at a time and realize it's a long season yet to go. But yeah, I think it's been fun celebrating these wins against a really good team.

"And who's played really well here," Perkins added. "The Yankees have, the last couple years I've been here, they've played us well here in Milwaukee. "So, glad to send them home or send them wherever, packing a little bit, getting those wins."

Perkins also highlighted the momentum that earning the sweep created.

"I think really good competitive at-bats, and our pitching was amazing with [Abner] Uribe today, getting that hold," he said. "And I think we just try and keep this momentum going, and got a long season to go."
