After a big win, Milwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras covered multiple important topics.

The Milwaukee Brewers cruised to an easy 13-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday to open a three-game series, and a large contributor to Milwaukee’s success was catcher William Contreras.

Contreras went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a walk in the win. After the game, he spoke with the media and started by addressing the status of a finger injury he suffered after a foul ball tipped off his glove. That compelled staff to check on him late in the game.

Brewers fans can feel relief, as Contreras assured reporters in the clubhouse that his finger was okay after the game. Contreras also spoke about the Brewers’ home run drought, which was broken by Sal Frelick in the second inning, and how Milwaukee produced an eight-run sixth inning without any long balls.

"Well, we finally had our moment there," Contreras said via his translator. "Like I always say, baseball is a game that's going to bring a lot of highs and lows there. We're going to go through moments that are even lower than what we've passed through this year, but you've got to take advantage of those moments whenever they come."

Contreras also addressed a scare that left starting right-hander Chad Patrick feeling disoriented and his vision affected before taking the mound during the second inning.

"Yeah, you know, just trying to keep it, you know, a little bit lighthearted there with him, you know, talking to him and, you know, just trying to navigate him through that one," Contreras said.

Patrick remained in the game and finished his outing after five innings and nearly 100 pitches thrown.

"You know, obviously there before the fifth, you know, lost his control a little bit," Contreras added. "But, you know, again, just trying to keep him mentally strong there, mentally engaged, you know, find a way back in to compete."

Contreras also touched on the imminent returns of Jackson Chourio and Andrew Vaughn, who are targeted for a May 4 return date to the Brewers' lineup following a rehab assignment.

"Yes, it's something that we need," Contreras said. "Obviously, as we all know, we've done a good job with them, without them, but I think that with them we're going to have a little better, a little more power.

"It's a matter of them coming back and convincing us of what we're doing," he added. "But, yeah, no doubt it'll be good to have those guys back."

Tuesday’s showing of offensive production in which Milwaukee registered 15 hits is indicative of the talent the team still holds despite Chourio and Vaughn not being back just yet.

"Yeah, like I said, just enjoying the good moment," Contreras said. "I think it was a 10-game stretch there where the moment was maybe not as great for us, but, again, it's baseball. It's going to have moments of highs and lows for us.

"It's about staying even-keeled through those moments and just being able to persevere through it," Contreras added. "Today was a good example of one of those that luck kind of changed for us."
