The Milwaukee Brewers may have found an in-house solution to their latest rotation concern, with rookie left-hander Shane Drohan emerging as a strong candidate to take on a larger role.

With ace Brandon Woodruff placed on the 15-day Injured List due to right shoulder inflammation, Milwaukee is left to piece together innings in the short term. Woodruff’s injury followed a shortened outing in which his velocity dipped noticeably, prompting the club to act cautiously with one of its most important arms.

Drohan, ranked among the organization’s top prospects, has already begun to make his case. After returning to the Major League roster, he has turned in multiple solid appearances out of the bullpen, highlighted by a pivotal outing in relief of Woodruff.

Called upon unexpectedly, Drohan covered four innings and stabilized the game, earning his first Major League victory in the process.

Despite working on minimal rest, the rookie showed poise and efficiency, leaning on his arsenal without hesitation.

His recent bullpen usage has allowed his stuff to play up, a contrast from his earlier start this season, where he struggled to find rhythm. In shorter stints, his velocity and command have both taken a step forward.

Milwaukee’s decision now centers on how best to deploy him. The Brewers could transition Drohan into the rotation, or they could opt to keep him in a relief role, given their current bullpen injuries.

Left-handers Angel Zerpa and Jared Koenig are both sidelined, thinning the club’s depth from the left side and complicating roster flexibility.

Other internal options remain in consideration. Right-hander Logan Henderson has impressed at Triple-A Nashville, most recently delivering a high-strikeout outing, while Coleman Crow is coming off one of his strongest performances of the season.

Both have prior Major League experience and could be recalled if needed. Additional depth includes Quinn Priester and Robert Gasser, though their readiness depends on health and recent performance.

There was also a brief moment of concern when top prospect Jacob Misiorowski exited a dominant outing with a hamstring cramp, but early indications suggest the issue is minor.

For now, Drohan’s emergence provides a timely boost. Whether he transitions into the rotation or continues to serve as a multi-inning weapon, his recent performance has positioned him as a key piece as the Brewers navigate a stretch of uncertainty on the mound.
