Cooper Pratt secures his first career RBI and stolen base while reliever Chad Patrick recaptures his dominant form with seven strikeouts to clinch a decisive series victory for the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Milwaukee Brewers cruised to a 9-4 victory over the Cleveland Guardians on Wednesday, June 18, to take the three-game series.

With the series finale just hours away, Shane Drohan assumes the starting pitching duties instead of Jacob Misiorowski.

Drohan will face Parker Messick, one of the key breakout pitchers the Guardians have to offer. At 25 years old, the lefty sports a 6-3 record with a stellar 2.68 ERA and 2.5 WAR.

Riding a three-game winning streak, here are two takeaways from Milwaukee's dominant, five-run victory in game two of the series.

1. Cooper Pratt Has Settled In

It didn't take long for the 21-year-old to find his footing. Sure, he went 0-for-3 with a trio of groundouts and had a fielding error in his big-league debut the night prior, but Pratt, who once again played at shortstop and batted eighth in the lineup, had a much more memorable Wednesday night.

Pratt kicked off the bottom of the second with a five-pitch, leadoff single. After getting ahead in the count 2-0, Gavin Williams evened things up at 2-2 before Pratt singled on a 97-mph sinker. Pratt later came around and score thanks to a David Hamilton sacrifice bunt and a Christian Yelich single.

Pratt struck out in both the fourth (on three pitches) and the sixth (on five pitches), but turned things around in the bottom of the eighth with his first career RBI. Pratt had numerous baseballs to collect after this win, and later proceeded to swipe second for the first stolen base of his big league career.

2. Chad Patrick is Back

Thankfully, Patrick was able to settle into this relief appearance and things went according to plan. After being lights out since his move to the bullpen, Patrick struggled mightily in his last two appearances.

In total, Patrick threw 50 pitches, 33 of which were strikes, as he got his ERA back down to 3.16 in 3.1 shutout innings. Patrick allowed just one hit and struck out seven batters, an incredibly impressive total knowing he only recorded 10 total outs.

For reference, Patrick only had eight strikeouts in his last five relief appearances combined. Seven marks the most he's had in a single game this season and is the most he's had in a big-league game since August 24, 2025.

That said, his career high is nine, and he followed that June 23, 2025, performance up with an eight-strikeout game on June 29, 2025.
