In a move that should come as no surprise to Milwaukee Brewers fans, the team has not engaged in contract talks with superstar pitcher Jacob Misiorowski, according to Fansided's Robert Murray.
No matter how good Misiorowski has been, it's important to remember he's still under team control through the 2031 season.
Murray's article doesn't mention that, but it's an important piece to the puzzle as the Brewers eye building the team around Misiorowski's arm.
Here in 2026, Miz is on a pre-arbitration contract that sees him making just $788,300, according to Spotrac. For what it's worth, he will not be arbitration-eligible until 2029.
Contract talks should be taken with a grain of salt
There's nothing wrong with what Murray said, and it's not shocking that the team hasn't engaged in contract talks with the 24-year-old, but for good reason.
This isn't a Cooper Pratt or Luis Lara situation. Instead, Misiorowski is on a completely different schedule.
Milwaukee has had no shortage of dominant pitchers in the past, but they haven't always been able to keep them around long-term.
If this was a pressing issue in the current moment, it would be more of a situation to monitor. Here at the All-Star break in 2026, the Brewers and Misiorowski just need to keep pushing forward, as they've done the past year and a half he's been in the big leagues.
When the time comes, there will definitely be a conversation. For now though, Brewers fans have no need to worry. Misiorowski isn't going anywhere, and if he were to be traded, that would likely come in the year prior to him being an unrestricted free agent prior to the 2032 season.
Brewers control Misiorowski's contract through 2031
The Brewers need to be focusing on the present, especially with all of the injuries they've been dealing with, Misiorowski included. While his was only listed as "arm fatigue," it's still something that must be monitored.
Managing Miz's innings is going to be vital to this team's success in the long run. Winning it all in 2026 would be amazing, but manager Pat Murphy knows he can't risk the team's new long-term ace on a random start in early July.
Misiorowski's contract, for the time being, is extremely team friendly. Things will get dicey once arbitration starts, and that's when the team could open contract talks. Brewers fans went through this in the past with the likes of Corbin Burnes and Freddy Peralta, but for now, they have absolutely nothing to worry about.
