The Milwaukee Brewers have started the season 2-0. See who the key contributors were in their win on Saturday.

The Milwaukee Brewers improved to 2-0 to begin the 2026 season with a 6-1 win over the Chicago White Sox on Saturday. Below were the key players in their victory:

Chad Patrick and Aaron Ashby

Two days after the Brewers gave the starting nod to second-year pitcher Jacob Misiorowski for Opening Day, the Brewers handed the ball to another right-hander in his sophomore season to start Saturday’s game: Chad Patrick.

Patrick, 27, went 4⅓ innings and logged four strikeouts while allowing five hits, a walk, and an earned run. Once his day was over, 27-year-old southpaw Aaron Ashby took the mound.

Over 1⅔ innings, Ashby was able to fan four batters while allowing two walks and no hits. Five pitchers took the mound for Milwaukee on Saturday and combined for 11 strikeouts, with Patrick and Ashby accounting for eight of them. Ashby was awarded the winning decision.

Brice Turang and Christian Yelich

While the Brewers’ pitchers were working to keep the White Sox from producing offense, Brice Turang and Christian Yelich made it a point to hit often.

Yelich and Turang combined to go 6-for-10 at the plate, with each of them going 3-for-5 in their respective at-bats. Yelich added an RBI and a run scored in the win that came in the form of a first-inning single to right field that scored Turang.

Then, Yelich hit a soft grounder to Chicago pitcher Sean Burke in the bottom of the second inning. Burke made a poor throw to first base and Yelich beat it out. That play also scored Turang again.

The performance comes after Turang and Yelich each went 2-for-4 during Opening Day, indicating a strong start by the duo.

Garrett Mitchell and Joey Ortiz

Two more hitters in Milwaukee’s lineup that produced at the plate were center fielder Garrett Mitchell and shortstop Joey Ortiz.

Mitchell went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and a walk. He hit a two-run single in the bottom of the first inning to score Jake Bauers and Yelich after the former had scored Turang as part of a three-run inning.

Ortiz also went 2-for-4 with an RBI, with his hits coming in the form of two singles in the bottom of the third and seventh innings. His hit in the seventh inning got Mitchell across home plate to score Milwaukee’s final run. Ortiz, Yelich, and Turang are all off to strong starts in the batter’s box, with each of them hitting over .500 to begin the season.

Additional Note

The Brewers also went 7-for-7 in stolen base attempts, which tied for the third most in a game in franchise history. Milwaukee is back in action against the White Sox with a chance to sweep them on Sunday at 1:10 p.m. CT.
