Taking a look at differences and comparisons between the 2026 Milwaukee Brewers and the 2023 Texas Rangers.
Winning your franchise's first World Series title will always be a memorable experience.
Recently, the Milwaukee Brewers became the latest team to do so after easily defeating the Tampa Bay Rays in five games, handing the organization its third championship loss.
Back in 2023, the Texas Rangers won their first World Series by defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks in five games.
With two teams winning their first title within a three-year span, which is the better championship team, the 2023 Rangers or the 2026 Brewers?
Both teams' run to the postseason
The Rangers entered the postseason with a 90-72 record, finishing second in the American League West and as the fifth seed in the AL playoffs.
Milwaukee had their best regular season in history, finishing 103-59 to win the National League Central and earn the top seed in the NL playoffs.
Although the 2023 Rangers were a Wild Card team, they still had a high-octane offense, with a team batting average of .263, 881 runs, and 233 home runs.
The 2026 Brewers also had a solid offense that showed up big-time with a .258 batting average, 822 runs, and 154 home runs.
Pitching for the Rangers wasn’t their strong suit as they posted a 4.38 ERA and only 1,351 strikeouts.
On the other hand, pitching was the Brewers' strongest asset. They posted the second-lowest ERA in the league at 3.51 and retired 1,544 batters over the season.
Milwaukee has the advantage in overall regular-season success, with records, seeding, and pitching, but Texas clearly has the offensive edge in every aspect.
How did Brewers', Rangers' postseason runs go?
Milwaukee went 11-2 in the postseason, including an NLCS sweep of the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers.
Texas had a 13-4 postseason record, with their biggest series victory coming in a seven-game series against their division rival, the Houston Astros, the defending champions.
For the Rangers, the bats carried on from the regular season during their title run, posting 97 runs and 30 home runs, and brought the ERA down considerably to 3.83.
The Brewers stepped up their offense in the postseason, hitting 13 homers and scoring 57 runs, while still being tough to beat on the mound, posting an impressive 2.02 ERA.
Corey Seager took home the World Series MVP for the 2023 Rangers, and William Contreras won the award for the Brewers this season. When comparing the stats of both players' respective series, Seager has the edge.
Again, similar to the comparison of regular seasons, it's safe to say the Brewers had more of a controlled dominating run while the Rangers were offensively dominated by focusing on outscoring opponents.
So, in terms of which team is better, it's subjective. It depends on what one values more, whether being able to score runs at a high rate in big games or watching a team methodically break down opponents and win games.
