There is a special development brewing in Milwaukee, and his name is Jackson Chourio.
The 21-year-old center fielder is coming off a strong sophomore campaign with the Milwaukee Brewers in which he logged 21 home runs and 21 stolen bases, marking his consecutive 20-20 season. Now, there is speculation that he will represent his team in the All-Star game next season.
Recently, Bleacher Report added Chourio to its list titled “The 10 MLB Players Primed To Be First-Time All-Stars in 2026.”
“It's only a matter of time before Jackson Chourio is a perennial All-Star selection, and on the heels of his second straight 20/20 season, it's easy to forget he is still only 21 years old,” it wrote. “In fact, he was the third-youngest player to appear in the majors in 2025, behind Braves pitcher Didier Fuentes and Giants first baseman Bryce Eldridge, who both spent the bulk of the season in the minors.”
“A nagging hamstring injury slowed him during the second half of the season, and he was still one of the most productive players on a 97-win Brewers team, so there is still ample room for improvement across the board in 2026.”
Chourio has rapidly ascended through the ranks of the Organization since Milwaukee signed him to a minor league contract on Jan. 15, 2021. In his first professional season in the Dominican Summer League, the native of Maracaibo, Venezuela hit .296 with 5 HR, 25 RBI and 8 SB in 45 games.
Chourio entered 2022 as the Brewers’ 10th-best prospect in the organization according to Baseball America. He earned his high marks after becoming the Brewers Minor League Player of the Year after batting .288 with 20 home runs, 75 RBI’s and 16 solen bases in 99 games at Class-A Carolina (62 games), Class-A Wisconsin (31 games) and Double-A Biloxi (six games).
In 2023, Chourio was recognized as the third-best prospect in baseball. Another big year in which he hit .282 with 22 home runs, 91 RBIs and 44 stolen bases in 128 games at Double-A Biloxi (122g) and Triple-A Nashville (6g) led him to earning the Brewers Minor League Co-Player of the Year. By 2024, he was considered the best prospect in baseball and made his MLB debut on March 29.
Chourio finished third in National League Rookie of the Year voting in 2024 behind Pittsburgh Pirates star right-hander Paul Skenes and San Diego Padres center fielder Jackson Merrill. Now, heading into year three, Chourio may ascend to even greater heights.
