The Milwaukee Brewers may need to part with one of their prospects to upgrade at the Trade Deadline.

The Aug. 3 Major League Baseball Trade Deadline is coming up fast, and teams are making sure due diligence is complete as it pertains to their plans.

Teams that are in the hunt for the postseason might want to be buyers at the deadline. Teams that are struggling might want to sell to get more controllable talent for the future. Either way, each organization has an agenda this time of year.

With a 64-39 record, the Milwaukee Brewers are the second-best team in the sport. Therefore, they will likely try to bolster the roster to ensure that their success is not limited to just the regular-season slate.

The Brewers already traded for Lance McCullers Jr. to add additional help to the pitching staff, and they gave up minor-league outfielder Jadyn Fielder, the son of former first baseman Prince Fielder, who played for Milwaukee from 2005-2011.

Now, if the Brewers want to add more bodies who can join the 40-man roster immediately, it will likely take additional prospects. According to The Athletic MLB Staff, the next minor-leaguer who will be with a new team after the Trade Deadline is infielder Luke Adams.

Who is Luke Adams?

Adams, 22, was the Brewers’ 372nd pick in the 12th round of the 2022 MLB Draft.

Adams played baseball at Hinsdale Central High School in Hinsdale, Ill., before he was drafted. Upon arriving in the organization, Adams made an immediate impact at the plate with the organization's Rookie-level affiliate in the Arizona Complex League, where he produced a .375/.512/.563 slash line with a 1.075 OPS.

Over the next few seasons, Adams continued to work his way up despite drops in production at the plate and some injury issues. He began the 2026 season with the ACL Brewers, where he hit three home runs in four appearances.

Currently, Adams is with Triple-A Nashville. In 47 appearances, he has a .271 average, a .407 on-base percentage, a .561 slugging percentage and a .968 OPS.

Adams has proven to be a strong talent, although scouts believe that he has to increase his aggression at the plate. For Milwaukee, having Adams as a trade chip might be the better option rather than waiting until he further develops as more of a hitting threat, if he ever gets there at all.

The addition of McCullers helps, but the Brewers can use some more reinforcements on the mound, especially because multiple arms are still stuck on the Injured List. Pitchers such as Brandon Woodruff, Quinn Priester, and Angel Zerpa are done for the season.

If Adams is the player that needs to get moved to obtain additional talent ahead of October, so be it.
