Now, the staff is adding what each fan base can look forward to in 2027. From the best teams to the worst ones, there is something to point toward.
The Brewers, unsurprisingly, retained the No. 1 spot in these rankings, and fans should be optimistic about player retention. This team is young and under club control, and that bodes well for 2027 and beyond.
Sure, right-hander Brandon Woodruff is set to be a free agent, but given his injury troubles in recent seasons, it is time for the Brewers to move on anyway. As Levi Weaver of The Athletic points out, William Contreras has a team option, and he believes those are the only two significant names whose futures with the club will be immediately questioned.
I can also make an argument for Jake Bauers, who will become an unrestricted free agent, as he has put together a very good year for the Brewers and has taken a leap in his age-30 season. Otherwise, Milwaukee is in a good spot.
Who's coming back?
The first and most important returner on this list is Jacob Misiorowski.
Misiorowski proved how good he could be during his 2025 rookie season, but now he has become not just an ace for the Brewers, but one of the best pitchers in baseball.
Misiorowski has spent a lot of time atop the pitching leaderboards in various categories, and he is getting closer and closer to capturing his first Cy Young Award. For this organization, it has to feel good to have someone like that in the clubhouse for years to come.
Other impact players include Brice Turang and Jackson Chourio, and the latter recently notched his third straight 20/20 campaign. The Brewers also have the continued development of rookie duo Luis Lara and Cooper Pratt to be excited about, who recently emerged from a minor-league system overflowing with talent.
The organization is right where it wants to be, especially with manager Pat Murphy and President of Baseball Operations Matt Arnold taking the reins. However, the pressure is on the Brewers to show that they can take another step in the playoffs and finally win the World Series.
