Cardinals Fared Well Against Rays in Regular Season, Demolished by Brewers

With the two World Series teams now set -- either the Tampa Bay Rays or the Milwaukee Brewers will win their first title -- we can look back at how the St. Louis Cardinals fared against these two teams during the 2026 regular season.
The results could not have been more diametrically different.
The Cardinals scored one of their most impressive series wins of the season against the Rays, winning two out of three to open up at Busch Stadium back in March. The Cards rallied from six runs down on Opening Day with an eight-run response for a 9-7 victory. Then, two days later, standout rookie JJ Wetherholt registered the first walk-off, winning hit of his career -- a two-run single through the right side to lift the Cards to a 6-5 victory that clinched the series win.
As for the Brewers, however, the Cards were dominated by the NL Central Division rivals like never before. The Cards went just 2-11 against Milwaukee for their worst winning percentage versus The Brew Crew since they were 0-3 back in 1997 -- when Milwaukee was still an American League team.
The Brewers outscored the Cards 66-37, went 6-0 in Milwaukee and 5-2 at Busch Stadium. The Pirates (7-6) were the only NL Central team to have a winning record against Milwaukee as the Reds (4-9), Cubs (4-9) and Cards (2-11) had massive struggles.
Here is a look at how the Cards fared against the 12 playoff teams during the 2026 regular season:
Chicago Cubs (7-6)
Los Angeles Dodgers (4-2)
Atlanta Braves (4-2)
Astros (3-0)
Yankees (2-1)
Guardians (2-1)
Chicago White Sox (2-1)
Rays (2-1)
Padres (4-3)
Phillies (2-4)
Red Sox (1-2)
Brewers (2-11)
TOTAL: 35-34
