The Silver Slugger finalist is expected to be moved this offseason.

St. Louis Cardinals' utility standout Brendan Donovan addressed the trade rumors surrounding himself this offseason in a Wednesday appearance on the 'Dealin' The Cards' podcast:

"Obviously, it's human nature to say 'control what you can control,' but as humans we're genuinely curious and tend to think too much, but I actually do a pretty good job going off-grid in the offseason. I really try to dive into my family, dive into my training and just try to stay away from things like that (being on his phone too much). I'm not oblivious to it. I know the rumors, and I know the things out there, but right now I'm a St. Louis Cardinal and the city's been very good to me and the fans have been very good to me. And, it's one of those things, it would be tough, it's kind of all I've ever known. But, I do understand that this is a business and with the direction they're going to go, if they are going to do a rebuild, reset, whatever you want to call it, they have to do the right thing for what they think is best for the organization and I'm not oblivious to that. But wherever I'm at, you're going to get discipline, sense of community, and I'm going to play my ass off."

    What's the latest?

To Donovan's point, the Cardinals are expected to rebuild this offseason. They've already begun that by trading away starting pitcher Sonny Gray and they could trade Donovan, JoJo Romero, Lars Nootbaar and Nolan Arenado over the rest of the offseason.

It feels like a Donovan trade could drop any day now with the Seattle Mariners and San Francisco Giants reportedly the leading suitors in trade talks.

The Cardinals continue to look for high-end pitching prospects in trade talks, and both of those teams have them. Seattle has three pitchers inside it's Top 10, including switch-pitcher Jurrangelo Cijntje, who the Cardinals are reportedly discussing.

    Will the Cardinals add anyone?

The Cardinals have already added right-hander Dustin May on a one-year deal worth $12.5 million. You can expect that the team will add more bounceback candidates in an effort to help them rebuild their values and deliver meaningful production. It's highly likely that May is traded at the deadline, if he performs, and it's expected that other Cardinals additions are also being brought in with the goal of being traded at the deadline.
