The Chicago Cubs have been a franchise for a long time, dating back to 1870 as the Chicago White Stockings.

The ball club changed their name to the Chicago Cubs and 1907. A recent picture surfaced one of the franchise's first mascots, which appeared to look more like a gopher than a bear.

The team made "Clark the Cub" its official mascot in 2014. It's safe to say that Clark isn't quite as scary as the original mascot for Chicago.
