The Cubs recorded their 13th walk-off of the season Tuesday night against the White Sox, moving one away from the franchise record with 17 home games still remaining.

Another night, another walk-off for the Chicago Cubs.

On Monday night, it was Pete Crow-Armstrong playing hero as he launched a walk-off two-run home run in the 10th inning against the White Sox to take the first game of the Crosstown Classic series.

In another come-from-behind effort, the Cubs tied the game in the bottom of the seventh on Tuesday night, and after a long rain delay it was Alex Bregman sending everyone home in the bottom of the ninth, lacing a walk-off single to center field with two outs in the inning.

Bregman now has five hits in the first two games of the series and is batting .317 with eight home runs and a .977 OPS over his last 31 games.

This version of the Cubs, one with Alex Bregman and Pete Crow-Armstrong anchoring the offense, a competitive starting rotation, and a roster that never quits, is exactly what Jed Hoyer and every Chicago Cubs fan had in mind before the 2026 season. This was the vision.

It hasn't always looked the part, but as we head toward the final month of the regular season and the postseason, the Cubs are playing like the best version of themselves.

One thing that's become abundantly clear is that the Cubs are never out of a game. And if there's one reason to be encouraged about this team's chances in the playoffs, it's their ability to win close games late.

If you give the 2026 Cubs a chance to walk you off, there's a good chance they will. Bregman's single on Tuesday night was the team's 13th walk-off of the season. The Cubs are the first team with 13 walk-offs in a season since 2022, when the Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees both reached that mark.

The all-time record belongs to the 1959 Pittsburgh Pirates at 18, but it's been nearly 50 years since a team had more than 16 walk-offs in a single season. The Cubs are beginning to enter uncharted territory with an opportunity to get there this season. They still have 17 home games remaining and are just one away from the all-time franchise record.

Clay Holmes takes the mound for the Cubs on Wednesday afternoon as they look for a series sweep over the White Sox, which would also clinch a season series victory after the South Siders took two out of three games back at Rate Field in May.
