The World Baseball Classic is officially underway.
The tournament officially began late Wednesday night, with Australia facing Chinese Taipei in the World Baseball Classic opener. Then, Korea versus Czechia, and Australia vs. Czechia took place on Thursday.
The rest of the field will play throughout the day on Friday. Japan versus Chinese Taipei kicked things off early Friday morning, and Team USA will play its first game later this evening.
The Chicago Cubs will have eight players participating in the World Baseball Classic this spring. With many Cubs players playing for different countries, it might be hard to keep track of when all eight players will be playing.
This page will be your go-to guide to catch all Cubs players in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
Team USA - Pete Crow-Armstrong, Alex Bregman, Matthew Boyd
March 6: USA vs. Brazil (7:00 PM CT) on FOX
March 7: USA vs. Great Britain (7:00 PM CT) on FOX
March 9: USA vs. Mexico (7:00 PM CT) on FOX
March 10: USA vs. Italy (8:00 PM CT) on FS1
It remains to be seen when Crow-Armstrong and Boyd will play for Team USA during pool play. Bregman figures to be the team’s primary third baseman, Crow-Armstrong will likely back up Byron Buxton in center field, and Boyd will come pitch out of the bullpen in the tournament.
Team Canada: Jameson Taillon
March 8: Canada vs. Panama (6:00 PM CT) on FS2
Taillon is expected to start for Canada on Sunday against Panama. This will be his only start during pool play. If Canada were to advance past the group stage, he could draw another start in the quarterfinals.
Team Mexico: Javier Assad
March 6: Mexico vs Great Britain (12:00 PM CT) on FS1
Assad will start for Mexico in the team’s first game of the tournament against Great Britain on Friday afternoon. If Mexico were to advance past pool play, the Cubs right-hander would likely start in the quarterfinals.
Team Japan: Seiya Suzuki
March 7: Japan vs. Korea (4:00 AM CT) on FS1
March 8: Japan vs. Australia (5:00 AM CT) on FS1
March 10: Japan vs. Czechia (5:00 AM CT) on FS1
Suzuki already played in his first game for Japan earlier on Friday morning. He is expected to be in the lineup in each of these pool play games.
Team Panama: Miguel Amaya
March 6: Panama vs. Cuba (10:00 AM CT) on FS2
March 7: Panama vs. Puerto Rico (5:00 PM CT) on FS1
March 8: Panama vs. Canada (6:00 PM CT) on FS2
March 9: Panama vs. Colombia (11:00 AM CT) on FS2
Amaya should be in the lineup for most of these games for Panama. The one game that all Cubs fans should have circled on their calendar is March 8 versus Canada. Amaya will face Taillon in this contest.
Team Venezuela: Daniel Palencia
March 6: Venezuela vs. Netherlands (11:00 AM CT) on Tubi
March 7: Venezuela vs. Israel (6:00 PM CT) on FS2
March 9: Venezuela vs. Nicaragua (6:00 PM CT) on FS2
March 11: Venezuela vs. Dominican Republic (7:00 PM CT) on FS1
Palencia could see a few appearances out of the bullpen for Venezuela. He is one of their top relievers this tournament.
