Three Cubs players went home with a Gold Glove for the 2025 MLB season.
Pete Crow-Armstrong, Nico Hoerner, Ian Happ, Matthew Boyd, Carson Kelley, and Matt Shaw were all nominated as finalists for a Gold Glove a few weeks ago. On Sunday night, Rawlings announced that Crow-Armstrong, Hoerner, and Happ all won a Gold Glove Award at their respective positions.
Crow-Armstrong edged out Victor Scott II and Jacob Young at the center field position to win his first career Gold Glove. In his first full season as the Cubs’ center fielder, the 23-year-old took home what will likely be the first of many Gold Glove Awards over his career.
Hoerner beat out Xavier Edwards and Brice Turang at second base to earn his second career Gold Glove Award. He was easily the best defensive second baseman in all of baseball this past season, with 17 Defensive Runs Saved, 14 Outs Above Average, and 12 Fielding Run Value.
“[I’m] proud of the ability to be available so much… you don’t win this award unless you’re on the field a ton,” Hoerner told Marquee Sports Network following his Gold Glove win.
As for Happ, he continues to play Gold Glove defense out in left field. He won his fourth straight Gold Glove Award on Sunday night by beating out Tommy Pham and Kyle Stowers. No outfielder has more Gold Glove wins in Cubs history than the nine-year veteran, according to MLB stats.
The other three Cubs finalists for the Gold Glove Award (Boyd, Kelley, and Shaw) fell just short of claiming their first one. Logan Webb took home the Gold Glove for the National League pitchers, Ke’Bryan Hayes reigned supreme at third base for the NL, and Patrick Bailey won his second straight Gold Glove at the catcher position.
All three Gold Glove winners for the Cubs were much deserving of that award. Crow-Armstrong, Happ, and Hoerner were all likely the favorites to win the award at their respective positions, and that’s a sentiment of their exceptional year in the field.
With each of those three players taking home a Gold Glove, Cubs fans can now vote for one of them to win the Platinum Glove. The Platinum Glove is an award that is given out to the best defender in both the National League and the American League.
Last year, Turang won the Platinum Glove in the NL. This year, that player could be Hoerner, Happ, or Crow-Armstrong.
The winner of the Platinum Glove will be announced on Friday, November 7.
