The Chicago Cubs 2027 schedule has finally been revealed.
Although the MLB schedule release comes at an odd time, Cubs fans know exactly who the team will be playing at what point next season. It’s a good way to look ahead to the 2027 season.
The looming potential lockout could change this schedule completely, but as of now, this is the Cubs' 2027 schedule. There are plenty of interesting things to point out about Chicago’s schedule next season.
Here are a few key highlights from the schedule release.
Opening Day: March 25th vs. Cleveland Guardians
The Cubs will begin the 2027 season with a home series against the Cleveland Guardians. Opening Day for the North Siders will be Thursday, March 25, with the start time of that contest to be determined.
The Cubs will face the Guardians in a three-game set. They will play on Thursday (March 25), Saturday (March 27), and Sunday (March 28), with an off day on Friday (March 26) in case Opening Day is rained out or even snowed out.
First Road Trip: April 2-7 at Angels & Athletics
Chicago will immediately travel west after playing six home games to start the season. The team has three games against the Angels from April 2 to April 4 and three games against the Athletics from April 5 to April 7.
It’s nice that the Cubs will take their first West Coast trip this early, considering it will be much warmer than in Chicago. The team will go on another West Coast trip just two weeks later, heading back to Los Angeles to take on the Dodgers.
Toughest Early-Season Stretch: April 13 to May 9
The schedule makers didn’t do the Cubs any favors early in the year. Not only do they have two separate West Coast trips in the first four weeks, but they have a tough stretch of games from April 13 to May 9.
The North Siders are set to play the Phillies (April 13-15), Dodgers (April 16-18), Diamondbacks (April 19-21), Pirates (April 23-25), Brewers (April 26-28), Yankees (April 30-May 2), Pirates (May 3-6), and Mariners (May 7-9) in eight straight series.
Planned Doubleheader: June 22nd at Padres
The Cubs have a planned doubleheader set for June 22nd against the San Diego Padres. This is the first time Chicago has had a planned doubleheader on its schedule since 1983.
This doubleheader comes in the midst of a three-city road trip. The Cubs will face the Rockies, Padres, and Giants in three consecutive series. MLB decided to give the North Siders a doubleheader on June 22nd, followed by an off day on June 23rd.
All-Star Break: July 12-15
The 2027 All-Star Game will take place at Wrigley Field on Tuesday, July 13. The Home Run Derby will take place on Monday, July 12, and the All-Star break will last from July 12-15 before the season resumes on July 16.
This is the first time the All-Star Game will be held at Wrigley Field since 1990.
Crosstown Classic: July 16-18 & August 6-8
The Cubs will immediately face the White Sox right after the All-Star break. They will host the South Siders at Wrigley Field from July 16 to July 18 before heading to Rate Field for the second Crosstown Classic series from August 6-8.
End Season: Road Trip at Phillies & Mets
The Cubs will end the 2027 season on the road with two series against National League East opponents. They will play the Phillies from September 21-23, then end the season against the Mets from September 24-26.
The regular season will officially conclude on September 26.
