Josiah Hartshorn skyrockets up the rankings while Jaxon Wiggins stumbles. Discover how elite internal shifts and breakout performances reshaped Chicago’s standing in MLB Pipeline’s latest top-100 update.

MLB Pipeline has recently updated the top-100 prospects in baseball.

This updated prospect rankings come at around the midway point of the season and just a few weeks out from the 2026 MLB Draft. This new top-100 list has plenty of risers, fallers, and new faces.

For the Chicago Cubs, they had a lot of movement in this newest edition. They had two of the biggest risers and one of the biggest fallers in MLB Pipeline’s updated prospect ranking.

Here’s a look at all four Cubs prospects who rank inside the top-100.

Biggest Riser: Josiah Hartshorn

Josiah Hartshorn began the year lower down on the Cubs’ prospect list. But he has quickly risen up the ranks following an impressive start to his professional career.

Hartshorn batted .273 with five home runs, nine doubles, 25 RBI, and four stolen bases in his first 39 games at Single-A and then was promoted to High-A in late May. With the South Bend Cubs, he has a .315/.385/.630 slash line with nine home runs, five doubles, 35 RBI, and four stolen bases in his first 30 games.

Those strong numbers move the 19-year-old to No. 80 overall on MLB Pipeline’s top-100 list. Hartshorn is now the Cubs’ No. 3 overall prospect and moves up 19 spots from his last placement at No. 99 overall.

Biggest Faller: Jaxon Wiggins

Cubs’ top pitching prospect Jaxon Wiggins continues to trend down. He started the year as MLB Pipeline’s No. 58 overall prospect, but has moved down these rankings in each of the last two updates.

His continued fall is due to his inability to stay healthy. He missed over two months with an elbow injury and is now just starting to build back up. The 24-year-old has appeared in one game at the rookie ball level and two at High-A as part of his rehab assignment over the last two weeks.

Wiggins drops down another 12 spots in MLB’s latest update. He comes in at No. 95 overall and is now the Cubs’ No. 4 overall prospect.

Big Riser: Jefferson Rojas

Last month, MLB Pipeline moved Jefferson Rojas to the top spot in the Cubs’ organization. He was officially the team’s new top prospect and found himself ranked as the No. 85 prospect in baseball.

In this new update, Rojas is now a top-70 prospect in baseball. He moves up 10 spots from his most recent placement and comes in at the No. 68 overall spot.

Rojas is off to a nice start at Double-A Knoxville this season. He is slashing .285/.352/.496 with 13 home runs, 10 doubles, 47 RBI, and 10 stolen bases across 64 games. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the 21-year-old shortstop move up to Triple-A very soon.

Small Riser: Pedro Ramirez

Pedro Ramirez has spent the last month in the big leagues, but he is technically a prospect until he reaches 130 Major League at-bats or spends 45 days on the active roster. That has Ramirez still ranked among the top 100 prospects.

The 22-year-old infielder moves up a couple of spots from his last placement on these rankings. He is hitting .260 with one home run, three doubles, six RBI, and two stolen bases across 21 games in the big leagues.

Ramirez comes in as the Cubs’ No. 2 prospect and is ranked No. 75 overall in MLB Pipeline’s latest prospect update. Since he has already spent 39 days on the active roster, he will graduate within the next week.
