With Diamondbacks left fielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. still working his way back into playing shape, there's a chance that Alek Thomas could play out there.

In Spring Training right now, Thomas has been taking some fly balls out in left if Gurriel might not be ready to go on Opening Day.

Gurriel is still getting back into shape after injuring his knee last season. He had to undergo surgery to repair his ACL, according to an MLB.com story.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo will be paying attention to what Thomas, who has been playing most of his time in Arizona in center field, can possibly do.
