If Jose Fernandez wanted to make a big splash with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night, well he sure did it in a big, big way.

Fernandez's two home runs were a big part of the D-backs' 7-5 win over the Detroit Tigers at Chase Field in Downtown Phoenix.

It looked pretty bleak for the home team going into their half of the eighth inning. The D-backs were down 5-1 and the thoughts of a comeback rolled around Arizona manager Torey Lovullo's head.

Those thoughts probably also reached his players as they mounted a furious rally.

James McCann hit a double, Corbin Carroll had a two-run double, and Gabriel Moreno added one on a fielder's choice, according to MLB.com.

Tigers ace closer Kenley Jansen, who has saved some big-time games throughout his MLB career, came on for Detroit with two outs in the eighth.

So, the rookie found a pitch to hit and drove it out of the park. That put the D-backs up 7-5, and it all led to a victory for the Snakes.

Lovullo sent Paul Sewald out for the ninth and he kept the Tigers' bats in check.

The D-backs are now 2-3 in the young season, while the Tigers drop to 2-4.

Arizona will go for a series sweep as the D-backs and Tigers duke it out on a Wednesday afternoon at Chase Field.

Fernandez, who comes from Cumana, Venezuela, finished 3-for-4 in the game, while Carroll went 1-for-3.
