Arizona Diamondbacks moved right-handed reliever Taylor Rashi to the Minnesota Twins in exchange for cash considerations

The Arizona Diamondbacks have traded right-handed reliever Taylor Rashi to the Minnesota Twins for cash considerations, according to a report from MLB Trade Rumors.

Arizona had designated Rashi for assignment to open a spot on the 40-man roster for infield prospect LuJames Groover, and the trade allows the club to recoup value rather than risk losing the pitcher for nothing.

The move continues a series of roster adjustments aimed at balancing immediate bullpen needs with long-term organizational depth. By transferring Rashi to Minnesota, Arizona clears the roster spot while maintaining flexibility for future transactions.

Strong Triple-A Production

Rashi, 30, spent most of the season with Triple-A Reno and delivered some of the best results of his professional career. In 26.1 innings, he recorded a 1.03 ERA and generated strikeouts at an above-average clip.

His major-league track record remains relatively limited. Across 13 appearances over the past two seasons, Rashi has logged 20 innings with a 5.40 ERA. While he has shown an ability to miss bats, inconsistency has prevented him from securing a permanent role in Arizona's bullpen.

Why Arizona Moved On

Despite the strong Triple-A numbers, the Diamondbacks ultimately decided to move on from Rashi. One factor has been his modest fastball velocity, which generally sits around 91 mph. To compensate, he relies heavily on secondary offerings, including a slider, curveball and splitter.

Arizona's decision also reflects the organization's ongoing effort to evaluate younger talent and optimize roster flexibility. With Groover requiring a 40-man spot and the bullpen already featuring multiple options, Rashi became expendable despite his success in Reno.

Looking Ahead

For the Twins, Rashi provides another depth arm with minor league options remaining. For the Diamondbacks, the trade represents a modest but practical move that opens roster space while adding cash considerations to the organization.
