Gabriel Moreno has quietly become one of the Arizona Diamondbacks’ most productive hitters over the past several weeks.

While much of the attention has centered on other stars around the National League, Moreno consistently delivered the type of offensive production Arizona needed.

His performance has helped stabilize the lineup while the Diamondbacks continue fighting to remain in the postseason race.

Moreno has been one of Arizona’s most reliable contributors on offense, producing quality at-bats and helping create scoring opportunities throughout the lineup.

Since July 1, Moreno is hitting .390 with 16 hits, five RBIs, and six runs scored in 11 games.

Those numbers may not generate the same attention as some of the league’s biggest sluggers, but they have played an important role in Arizona’s recent success.

His ability to consistently put the ball in play has allowed the Diamondbacks to sustain rallies and apply pressure throughout games.

Arizona’s offense has been at its best when multiple hitters reach base, and Moreno has become a key part of that formula.

Whether extending an inning with a line drive, working a patient at-bat, or delivering a timely hit, he has repeatedly found ways to contribute.

His recent production has also helped deepen the lineup by creating more opportunities for the hitters batting behind him.

That type of consistency carries even greater value from the catcher position.

Few catchers are able to balance the physical demands of working behind the plate while continuing to produce offensively over the course of a 162-game season.

Moreno has managed to do both.

His work on offense has complemented the defensive responsibilities that already make him an important part of Arizona’s roster.

That recent stretch also raises an interesting question.

Should Moreno have received stronger consideration for the National League All-Star team?

The league is filled with established stars, and All-Star selections are influenced by several factors, including fan voting, market size, reputation, and overall performance.

Those realities can make it difficult for emerging players to receive the recognition their production deserves.

Even so, Moreno’s recent play has demonstrated that he is capable of performing at an All-Star level.

As Arizona gets ready to push through the second half, maintaining that offensive momentum could become one of the biggest keys to the team’s success.

Moreno has developed into one of MLB’s most complete catchers because of his balanced skill set and mature approach to the game.

He combines outstanding defensive instincts with an advanced understanding of pitching staffs, making him valuable on both sides of the ball.

At the plate, he rarely tries to do too much, instead trusting a compact swing that allows him to make consistent contact against different types of pitching.

His baseball IQ, preparation, and ability to make adjustments throughout games have earned the trust of both pitchers and coaches.

Those qualities continue to separate him from many catchers around MLB. His skills give the Diamondbacks confidence that he can remain an important contributor.
