The Arizona Diamondbacks opened their series and the month of June against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a come-from-behind 4-1 win at Chase Field in Phoenix on Monday.

After the Dodgers scored in the top of the third inning to make it a 1-0 game, the Diamondbacks were unable to produce a response until the bottom of the sixth, but once they did, they kept adding on.

The scoring began with 24-year-old rookie Tommy Troy, who hit his first career home run to tie the game. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Nolan Arenado followed it up with a solo home run of his own, marking his eighth of the season. Then, Ketel Marte delivered a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to make it a 4-1 game.

Afterward, manager Torey Lovullo talked about his team's performance.

"I couldn't be more proud of this group," Lovullo told the media. "We were grinding through some early innings, maybe a little bit of a hangover from the trip up to Seattle. [Emmet] Sheehan had some really good stuff, but we just kept hanging in there.

"We kept fighting," he added. "Clearly, the Tommy Troy home run got us energized and evened the score. And then Arenado continues to just impress me with so many of the things that he's doing to help this team win, and he does it with a lot of hard work behind the scenes. So, he gets the go-ahead home run."

Before Marte’s home run, Troy reached first base on a successful bunt, which Lovullo also praised.

"The thing that stood out to me about the Marte home run was how Tommy Troy had some situational awareness," Lovullo said. "Works extremely hard with Jeff Bannister and the bunting group and gets on and hands it off to Marte; it's a big two run home run. That's high baseball IQ."

Lovullo also lauded the performance of Eduardo Rodriguez, who delivered six innings on the mound and struck out three batters while allowing five hits, one earned run and one walk.

"I've gotta really make some comments about ERod, who goes out there and just spins up six really, really impressive innings," Lovullo said. "We made some nice defensive plays behind him, but he pounded the zone, he set his tone with his fastball and then went to work and started pitching from there.

"Good two seam fastball," he added. "I think there's a lot of quality left handed batters on that ball club. So, at times if you can get a lefty to do the things that ERod did, it can slow him down a little bit. But overall, this day was set up by ERod and finished by some really heady, smart baseball plays."
