Arizona Diamondbacks fans have nothing to worry about as Ketel Marte should be back in the lineup soon.

Despite being a late scratch from the Arizona Diamondbacks lineup on Thursday, July 23, star second baseman Ketel Marte isn't expected to miss any time.

Marte, 32, was pulled shortly before the St. Louis Cardinals game due to back stiffness.

The Diamondbacks ended up winning that game, 10-5, and are now 5-1 in their last six games. The D-backs have won eight of their last 10 as they sit at a comfortable 54-49.

Having scored 10-plus runs in each of their last two games, the last thing the Diamondbacks wanted was to have their momentum halted due to a Marte injury. While he's still listed as day-to-day, manager Torey Lovullo provided a promising update on the three-time All-Star.

Marte should return to the lineup today

Lovullo described what went down before Marte was scratched ahead of Thursday's game, "Ketel sent me a text once we all arrived at the ballpark here and he was on his way, and I understood that his back was very tight. It happens, you know. He’s played a lot of baseball, which has been great, and we need to pay attention to our bodies," according to MLB.com.

Marte faced a ton of pressure earlier in the year for the timing of which games he sat out of. Recently though, he's been a mainstay in this Diamondbacks lineup, and he's a huge reason as to why this team is going to be aggressive at the trade deadline.

Arizona remains in the Wild Card picture, and while they're still 11 games back in the National League West, there's still plenty of time for things to get interesting. Diamondbacks fans shouldn't expect to win the division, but they're in the hunt and that's all that matters.

“I sent the lineup out already for tomorrow, and he’s in it,” Lovullo added.

Diamondbacks' brutal road stretch continues

A one-off game in St. Louis was less than ideal, especially since the Cardinals came to Chase Field from July 17-19. Rain makeups are no joke, and they caused the D-backs to miss a crucial off-day ahead of a grueling road stretch.

Now, Arizona is tasked with playing 10 straight road games in 11 days. Their next day off is on Thursday, July 30.

Getting through this road stretch with a solid record is crucial as once the Diamondbacks return home, they'll be playing 10 straight division games, including three against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
