The Arizona Diamondbacks would not be denied as they walloped the San Francisco Giants on Monday.

On Monday, the Arizona Diamondbacks had everything working against the San Francisco Giants in a 12-2 rout to open the series.

From widespread contributions across the batting order to strong pitching from starter Zac Gallen and the bullpen, Arizona kept up its momentum from a series win over the Colorado Rockies with a dominant start over the Giants at Chase Field in Phoenix.

After the game, Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo talked with the media about what he saw from his team, starting with the performance of Gallen.

"Yeah, today, Zac Gallen did a really nice job of pacing us," Lovullo said. "He goes out there and he gives up two runs over the six innings. I thought he's making really good pitches. The knuckle curve was a very, very effective pitch.

"He's been tweaking things and just making adjustments," Lovullo added. "It was nice to watch the quality start and the ability that he had to go out there and just have a mixture of pitches and establish that fastball command and go to work off of that."

It was a strong and needed bounce-back game for Gallen, who struggled in his May 12 start against the Texas Rangers when he allowed six hits, four earned runs (two home runs) and two walks while also hitting a batter over 4 ⅔ innings.

On Monday, he struck out five batters while allowing four hits, two earned runs, and one walk over six innings of work.

The Diamondbacks were able to back Gallen up with an offensive onslaught that began with a four-run first inning.

"It was clear that we were ready to play," Lovullo said. "I was really very satisfied with the approach, the situation in the bottom of the first inning and the big grand slam by Arenado, and it just let us exhale in the dugout a little bit after a tough series, tough weekend series in Colorado where we won it.

"But I think you come off something that emotional," Lovullo added. "I think we were really excited about that type of a win. We did not let down today."

Overall, the Diamondbacks notched 16 hits in 38 at-bats and produced 11 RBIs while five players had multi-hit games.

"We just kept going at it," Lovullo said. "We just kept playing as hard as we could for the entire game. The guys just really did their job in a lot of different ways today, offensively, defensively. The little things, the base running, all the things that we stand on. It was a good day for us."
