Corbin Carroll secures his third All-Star selection while veteran southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez celebrates a career-first nod following a dominant season on the mound for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are sending a pair of players to the 2026 Major League Baseball All-Star Game.
Outfielder Corbin Carroll has been named an All-Star for a third time while left-handed pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez earned the nod for the first time in his 11-year career.
Rodriguez, 33, has had an unexpected breakout here in 2026. His numbers are better than ever before, by far, and he's deserved every bit of this All-Star selection.
As for Carroll, the 25-year-old continues to get better. Currently in his fifth year in the majors, the lefty is on pace for another career year and will get to show the world what he's all about, even though it's in a reserved role.
Rodriguez Comments on Major Accomplishment
Rodriguez is coming off back-to-back seasons in Arizona where he finished with an ERA north of 5.00. The lowest it's ever been in his career is 3.30, which came in 26 starts during his 2023 season. Here in 2026, Rodriguez sports a 2.21 ERA with a stellar 7-2 record.
"It means a lot to me, because I've been in this game for quite a long time, and to have the opportunity to go to an All-Star Game for the first time is just something amazing,” Rodriguez said, according to MLB.com.
He continued, "I've been great to locate my pitches where I want, have a really good relationship with the catchers that catch me, have a really good plan, and we just go out there and execute it.”
Rodriguez was a driving force in Team Venezuela's run in the World Baseball Classic, one that saw them take down Team USA in the championship game. Knowing he signed a four-year, $80 million contract, it's great for Diamondbacks fans to see he's finally living up to the hype.
Familiar Ground for Carroll
Unlike Rodriguez, Carroll has been here before. As young as he is, Carroll is one of the most explosive players in the league and he's not taking this experience for granted.
"I've enjoyed when I've gotten to go in the past, and I just know what a great experience it is, what a great celebration of baseball. Really, really excited for it, and thankful to the team that’s got me there this year," Carroll said.
The Washington native is currently slashing .266/.355/.506 with a .862 OPS. To no surprise, he sports a positive WAR for his fifth consecutive season, with it currently sitting at 3.3.
