The Los Angeles Dodgers are facing a must-win situation on Wednesday night.
It's tough to say it is but after losing 6-2 to the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 4 of the 2025 World Series on Tuesday night, the Dodgers need to get a victory.
Blake Snell will get the start for Los Angeles against Trey Yesavage for the Blue Jays. It's a rematch of the Game 1 pitching matchup. Of course, Dodgers fans know that Toronto walloped the Dodgers 11-4. The 2025 World Series is tied up at 2-2 entering this pivotal Game 5.
What the Dodgers probably will look to do is get to Yesavage early. If Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman and their teammates can batter Yesavage up in the first or second innings, then Blue Jays manager John Schneider will have to turn to his bullpen early at Dodger Stadium.
Of course, the Blue Jays want to ambush Snell early in the game, too.
Game 5 might turn into a World Series version of a chess match. Both managers will be watching their players closely, looking to see it there's a weakness in their opponent.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts doesn't want to dip into his bullpen too early. One arm that Roberts probably will have back on Wednesday night is Will Klein, who, besides Ohtani and Freeman with the game-winning home run in the bottom of the 18th inning, was the Game 3 hero.
If Toronto wins, then they'll head back to Rogers Centre with a 3-2 lead and can win the 2025 World Series with one victory. If Los Angeles wins, then they'll travel to Canada looking to repeat as World Series champions.
