Following Tuesday night's 9-3 win over the Athletics, Dave Roberts, the Los Angeles Dodgers manager since the 2016 season, has reached the 1,000-win threshold. 

"I know people say the word surreal a lot, but it is surreal," Roberts said as he reflected on his 1,000 career wins mark as the Dodgers manager. "You take a step back and look at the body of work. It's been a fun ride." 

"The most important thing is that I still enjoy what I do." 

He becomes the fastest manager in modern baseball history to reach that mark (1,606 games). 

Roberts is one of 68 managers in MLB history who have reached the chiliastic numeral. He also becomes the fourth Dodgers skipper to win 1,000 games (Wilbert Robinson, Walter Alston, Tommy Lasorda). 

"1,000 wins is just unbelievable if you think about it," Tommy Edman said. "It couldn't have happened to a better guy. I just loved every minute playing for him since I've gotten here. He's so personable, makes it really easy to play for, keeps things loose and there's a reason why he's won 1,000 games." 

The Dodgers came through for Roberts' 1,000th win in convincing fashion that began with the strong performance on the mound from Justin Wrobleski. 

"The Shark" diced A's hitters all night with his fastball/slider combination en route to a career-high 11 punchouts across seven innings. Despite giving up a two-run shot to Colby Thomas during his final frame of work, Wrobleski brushed off the bad pitch to secure his 10th win on the mound. 

The last Dodgers pitcher to reach 10 wins before the All-Star break was former southpaw Clayton Kershaw. 

"I think the execution was a little better," Wrobleski said. "I think I did a good job getting the fastballs up when I wanted to and throwing them at the bottom when I wanted to." 

His performance on Tuesday also marks the 10th time this season that he pitches six-plus innings — the fifth time reaching the seventh inning or later — and is practically on pace with ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto. 

Wrobleski has had a superb month of June, going 4-1 with a 2.64 ERA across 30.2 innings pitched. 

As for the offense, they pretty much picked up right where they left off from Monday's opener. 

Mookie Betts continued his hot hitting at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one RBI. Throughout his last seven games, Betts is slashing .406/.424/.750. 

Tommy Edman crushed his first home run of the year in the third with a two-run shot that put Los Angeles over the edge in the top of the third inning. 

"I feel like I've just been pretty consistent thus far," Edman said after his 4-for-5 night at the plate. 

With the win, the Dodgers secured their third straight series victory. 

Los Angeles will throw a bullpen game together in hopes of a sweep on Wednesday instead of Shohei Ohtani toeing the rubber. 

Roberts stated in the pregame that the pushback on Ohtani's start day was because the Dodgers are in the midst of a 13-game stretch and want to give the two-way player as much rest as he can before the All-Star break.
