The Arizona Diamondbacks hit three home runs as the Los Angeles Dodgers were unable to produce any offense
The home runs told the story Monday night as the Arizona Diamondbacks hit three en route to a 4-1 series-opening win against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Diamondbacks Spoil Emmet Sheehan's Outing With Home Run Ball
Despite the lackluster run support, Dodgers starting pitcher Emmet Sheehan buckled down and threw one of the better starts of his 2026 campaign.
He gave up a Corbin Carroll double in the first inning and, following that, he retired 15 consecutive Diamondbacks.
The velocity was a standout marker for Sheehan as he entered this game with an average fastball velocity of 94.2 mph.
On Monday, he had an average fastball of 95.9 mph and registered an average fastball velocity of 96 mph for three consecutive innings (third, fourth and fifth).
Still holding a 1-0 lead with one out in the sixth, Sheehan tried to blow a fastball past Arizona rookie Tommy Troy, but the 24-year-old launched his first career home run 392 feet to tie the ballgame.

Rebilas-Imagn ImagesJust three batters later, Nolan Arenado greeted Sheehan with his eighth home run of the season and the Diamondbacks had their first lead of the game.
That would end Sheehan's night at 6.1 innings pitched, giving up just two earned runs on three hits in the loss.
The home runs did not stop coming as Ketel Marte launched a two-run home run off Jack Dreyer in the bottom of the eighth inning.
The offense put no pressure on Arizona starter Eduardo Rodriguez, who allowed just one earned run across six innings.
Los Angeles left five men on base and went 2-for-8 with runners in scoring position. Shohei Ohtani recorded three of the Dodgers' six hits.
Arizona's bullpen took care of the remaining three innings, shutting out Los Angeles.
What's Next?
With the loss, the Dodgers fall to a 38-22 record.
Eric Lauer toes the rubber for his second Dodgers start on Tuesday.
