The slight rain delay at Target Field did not deter the Los Angeles Dodgers, who took the series on Tuesday afternoon against the Minnesota Twins by a final score of 12-3. 

Unlike Monday's series opener, where the Dodgers could only get two runs across, Freddie Freeman led the offensive surge with a 3-for-5 night at the plate with two RBIs. 

Freeman's three-hit performance marks the first time since June 2 that he recorded a trio of hits. The Dodgers' first baseman also inches closer in the history books as his RBI double in the sixth inning passed Carlos Beltran for the 28th spot on the all-time leaderboard with 566 career doubles. 

"You keep hearing these numbers you're approaching, people you're passing and doing certain things. It's hard not to take a step back and appreciate," Freeman said. 

Another offensive performance worth noting was the day at the plate Chuckie Robinson had. 

Robinson, who had been hitless in his first 12 at-bats since his call-up on June 11, went 2-for-4 at the plate, including an RBI on a sacrifice bunt.

“He’s done everything we’ve asked of him,” Dave Roberts said of Chuckie Robinson. 

Overall, the Dodgers managed to hit a season-high 17 hits and drive in 12 runs (the most runs since their 12-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates earlier in the month. 

“Tonight, there was a presence for each guy in the batter’s box. There was some intent behind their at-bats,” Roberts said on the offensive production. He also added that the two-strike hitting was proficient. 

Southpaw Justin Wrobleski took the mound for Los Angeles and continued his consistent success on the rubber.

He went seven innings against Minnesota — his first seven-inning performance since his one-hit, nine-strikeout outing against the Philadelphia Phillies on May 29 — only giving up two earned runs and striking out three. 

“He did a nice job of controlling his emotions,” Roberts said on Wrobleski’s outing. 

This also marks the fifth time this season that Wrobleski reached the seventh inning and he lowers his season ERA to 2.71.

"I think we did a good job; Chuckie [Robinson], Mark [Prior], myself just kind of adjusted on the fly and kind of changing the mix a little bit on them second and third time through," Wrobleski said. With the series win, the Dodgers improve to 51-29 as the midway point of the season nears. 

Los Angeles will send out Shohei Ohtani for a chance at a series sweep before the day off on Thursday.
