Despite Shohei Ohtani breaking his home run skid, it wasn't enough as the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the San Francisco Giants.
Make that four straight losses for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Despite Shohei Ohtani finally getting out of his home run funk, the offense continues to disappear as the San Francisco Giants took Tuesday's contest by a 6-2 final.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto Goes Six Innings, Gives Up Three Home Runs
Yoshinobu Yamamoto had yet to earn a win against the Giants in six starts against the division rival.
Tuesday's outing proved to be no different.
The right-hander retired the first eight batters he faced with ease until he faced off against Giants backup catcher Eric Haase.
Haase hit the first of two home runs off Yamamoto to tie the ballgame 1-1 in the third inning.
The Giants' bottom of the order jumped on Yamamoto in the fifth as Harrison Bader hit the second long ball of the game for San Francisco. Haase followed that up with his second home run of the game.
That was the first time in his short MLB career that Yamamoto has given up three home runs in an outing.

Yamamoto entered in the seventh inning. He was removed after recording just one out and was responsible for runners on the corners.
Blake Treinen came on with hopes of stranding the runners, but the Giants tacked on two additional runs in the seventh.
Overall, it was a so-so start for the Dodgers' ace, with splashes of the Yamamoto of old as well.
Yamamoto finished his outing going 6 1/3 innings, giving up five earned runs on six hits and struck out eight Giants. Yamamoto is sitting on a 3.60 ERA.
“Overall, I think I was throwing pretty good pitches, except for three pitches I mislocated, and it was easy for them to hammer," Yamamoto said on his outing.
Ohtani Breaks Home Run Skid, But Offense Falls Flat...Again
In the pregame media scrum, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts revealed his plans for Ohtani moving forward as he preps for his next start on Wednesday.
Roberts said that Ohtani would not hit during the series finale on Thursday and is leaning on him not hitting on his start date either.
That must've turned on a light switch for Ohtani as, in his first plate appearance, smacked a base hit to right field. That was his fifth hit in his last 39 at-bats.
In his second at-bat of the game in the third inning, Ohtani broke out of not hitting a home run and hit a 398-foot opposite field shot to give the Dodgers a 2-1 lead.

Down 6-2 in the eighth inning, the Dodgers had their best chance to score with Max Muncy up at the plate representing the tying run with the bases loaded.
Unfortunately for Los Angeles, nothing came out of that opportunity as Muncy struck out looking and Andy Pages flew out to right field.
With the bases loaded in 2026, the Dodgers are five for their last 27.
To add insult to injury, the Dodgers have not only lost four straight, but they've lost all those games by four or more runs. That mark is tied for their longest in a single season since at least 1900s, per Sonja Chen of MLB.com.
What's Next?
The Dodgers dropped their fourth straight game and fall to a 24-18 record.
Ohtani takes the mound Wednesday as the Dodgers look to snap their losing skid and salvage a win.
