It was all Will Smith Saturday night as he lifts the Dodgers past Diamondbacks

You couldn't write it any better than this.

Saturday night was another special occasion at Dodger Stadium, but the main focus was for one singular person. Will Smith, who was celebrating his 31st birthday and a bobblehead giveaway, was the one that proppeled the Dodgers past the Arizona Diamondbacks, 3-2, to secure the opening series sweep.

Down 2-1 in the bottom of the eighth with two outs, Mookie Betts would find himself on first after receiving a free base.

That set the table up for Smith to launch a 2-2 fastball clocked in at 98 mph to straight away center 414 feet.

"When you talk about big hits, Will is at the top of the list," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said on Smith's clutch home run.

"Obviously with Will, there's no panic in his at-bats."

That two-run long ball gave the Dodgers the first lead of the game and that one-run lead was all Edwin Díaz needed to shut the door for consecutive nights.

With the win, that marks three staright come-from-behind victories to open up their season. Last year, they had 48 comeback wins, whihc ranked them second in the entire league.

Right-handed flamethrower Tyler Glasnow took the mound for his first start of 2026 and picked up right where he left off from his consistently pitched spring.

It took some time to settle in, but in six innings pitchd, he gave up two earned runs on four hits and one walk, but struck out six Diamondbacks.

Alongside Dodgers starters doing their job in these first three games, the bullpen has produced just as much.

In the first 11 2/3 innings Dodgers relievers have pitched, they have given up no earned runs.

Alex Vesia, Will Klein [who got the win Saturday night] and Díaz made quick work of Arizona hitters in the final three innings.

The rest of the National League West is falling behind as, not considering the Dodgers perfect start to their season, the rest of the division is a combined 1-10.

Looking forward, the Dodgers have a rare off day on Sunday, but get back to the action on Monday for a three game series against the Cleveland Guardians
